Linguistically "moslem or moslim" is wrong and offensive. The distinct vowel "u" called "damma" has its purpose. If the word is pronounce with an "o" sub it changes the meaning of the word "muslim". Thats why many of us take if offensively and others who accept it are seeking means to compromize.

The problem you're having with this is we're not speaking Arabic, but English. In English it is a correct form/term for a person who follows Islam

AS for the "misnomer" mohamadian and its variants, it is also offensive. We do not tend to be classified like other religions who are named after a person place or thing.

That might be offensive, because its meaning is different from Moslem.

The difference being; Moslem - follower of Islam, Muhammedan - follower of Muhammed

But Moslem is just a variance of spelling, not of meaning.

Muslim is another way of spelling it.

My citing of those examples is to show that Moslems don't have problems with the word.

Your claim that they are a minority is based on your claim that they are a minority.

It's an utterly ridiculous idea. We aren't born Muslim, or Jewish, or Christian, or anything else. Do we instinctively know the five pillars of Islam, the fact Jesus died for our sins, or any stories from the Old Testament? No. We learn them. We hear of religious ideas as we grow, and choose to (or are indoctrinated into) following them. Even if you can argue that mankind is naturally drawn to believe in a higher being, how on earth is that equivalent to Islam? Islam is more than that - plenty of religions over thousands of years have shared vague connections regarding God. Yes, we might be drawn to believe in a higher being, but are we drawn to follow Sharia law? It's easy to say "we're born pure" and that we're born Muslims, but there are absolutely NO facts to back that up, at all. If you watch any toddler go about his or her buisiness who hasn't been indoctrinated with Muslim ideas, the last thing you'd ever think was that they were Muslims! You'd think that they were a lot of work and maybe pretty cute, but they wouldn't be Muslims. They might BECOME Muslims if they happened to be in a Muslim family, but they could just as well end up as Hindus if they were brought up in a Hindu family. And then if they converted to Islam later? They'd have converted, not reverted, because they were NEVER Muslims in the first place.

I agree 100%. To revert implies that one had a conscience to change their minds and to form a different belief than at their birth. As far as I know, we don't have that capacity at birth.

Some dictionaries don't recognise the word gaol, either. I grew up spelling it that way.

a reversion is a reversion, I don't see any different in the way it is interpreted. Once someone decides to revert to Islam then he once he does so he is amuslim anywhere in the world.

Call them Musselman or Mohammadeans, heck call them infidels if you want Montalban. It only annoys people, it's not conducive to inter-faith dialogue. That's why some Muslims are phasing out the term kfr when talking to Christians and Jews, because it's nowadays interpreted as offensive (perhaps arising from the South African apartheid use of the word). This is a non-sense argument. It's is an attempt at arguing by inference.

We know Santa-Claus doesn't exist therefore by inference we're supposed to agree that Christianity is 'made-up'.

It fails because people are taught Islam!

In fact central to Islam is reading the Koran in Arabic. So, unless you want to argue that Arabic is the natural language of all mankind...!

He said the first sound we make is a gasp of air "ah" and at the end of our life there's the expirational groan "lah"

I think you don't wanna understand that they are a minority.Most muslims and scholars even find it Pegorative and prefer to call themselves Muslims.

In German, Moslem is the correct spelling. In Turkish, it's müsülman. In Bosnian, it's musliman.
