This is not talking about the church. This is instructions for those in the nation of Israel. Those that flee as instructed become the remnant that the dragon seeks war with.
Matthew chapter 24 is one of those passages which kills the Two Peoples of God doctrine.
Therefore Dispensationalists claim the book is not addressed to the Church.
The problem is that Jesus spoke of His Church in Matthew 16:18, and the "Great Commission" to the Church is found at the end of Matthew's Gospel.
Christ was speaking to men that He already knew would be leaders of His Church, when He used the word "you" in Matthew chapter 24.
The historical record confirms that the early Christians did flee from the city of Jerusalem, before the final siege of 70 AD.
Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand(Read John 10:22 to understand)
Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Luk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
Luk 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
