Hello, I am wondering what is the best course of action to take, concerning prior sin of theft.
I can afford to pay about 25.00 to 30.00 max. a month on debts that I accrued wrongly. It would take me about 30 years to repay debts, not including any added fees. There are no consumer credit, court, organizations that will accept my circumstance. I can not work, due to disability.
I am not looking for an out, just some feedback about the situation.
I could go bankrupt, but neither of the two options stated seem alright.
Suggestions please!

/me is NOT a financial advisor!

I don't personally believe that filing for bankruptcy is an appropriate option, for even if you do, I think you are morally obligated to repay those debts. Bankruptcy is not a forgiveness of debt, or a payment of debt, but a legal (not necc. moral) way out of paying those debts.

I would suggest contacting your creditors and telling them your intention to pay them back over time. Explain your situation to them, but that you are not going to file for bankruptcy. See what sorts of plans they can work out for you.

You may want to look into a debt consolidation plan, or a consumer credit counseling program which can help you organize a method to pay back those debts.

(Of course, you could always take the savekaryn approach, by starting a website and asking other people to cover your debts! :D)

Peace,

WJ

You are doing the right thing, Nami. Your heart is right about this. You have done the best you can, now pray and ask God to move on your circumstances and help you. Then leave the situation in His hands. You may be surprised at what happens! I just wanted to give you a big, "Way to Go!" :D

Yes, depend on God and trust His guidance through this. Also, you don't have to worry too much about forgiveness at this stage . . . well, what I'm saying is, if you've already come to God and owned up to the fact that you got yourself into a bad situation, and asked for His help, then He's forgiven you. This doesn't mean you can stop trying to pay the debts, it's sort of an ongoing thing. It seems your heart is right, so keep following what God puts there.

I just want to make sure that you DON'T feel that God won't forgive you until you've payed all the debts off. That's something you definitely don't have to worry about :)
