I'm sorry, guys, but in some cases my memory is shorter than an article on creatio ex nihilo in Scientific Americant.

But I'd like a couple of updates, please ... thank you.

CabVet:

Where are we at right now with those scientists who went to ... of all places ... the Discovery Institute to sign some petition stating they believe in evolution (or whatever it was)?

Split Rock:

Did they ever get those one million signatures by June 1st that you promoted years ago?

If not, how close are they? maybe the organization will take them anyway?

Are you talking about Project Steve?
No.

Some mumbo-jumbo about scientists lining up to sign some petition by the Discovery Institute ... only to have the DI use it against them later.

I'll see if I can find the thread.

It's all bologna, in my opinion.

Perhaps you are talking about this.
Dissent from Darwin

A number of scientists who signed it later asked that their names be withdrawn when they found out how it was being used by the Discovery Institute.

Project Steve was started as a light-hearted rejoinder to this and similar lists of "scientists who support/ed creationism".

Well, I know there are quite a few credible scientists that are currently teaching in leading universities that do not agree with the evolution theory.

Of course each and every one of those are called pseudo scientists or that they got the facts wrong and don't know what they are talking about. Much the way people act on this forum towards ID theory or anything that speaks against their evolution faith.

Actually there aren't. To be a credible scientist he would have to be an expert in evolution. For example a physicist is not a credible scientist when it comes to evolution. It is outside of his specialty and his voice carries no authority.

There are some scientists at leading universities that do not agree with the theory of evolution. There are not "quite a few" of them. The number of credible scientists that hold teaching positions and disagree with the theory of evolution I could probably count on the fingers of one hand.

If they want to hold their jobs, they better agree with it and keep their mouths shut.

So, which is it? Are all the scientists who disagree with evolutionary theory just keeping their mouths shut, or are they being outspoken and being constantly mocked as pseudo-scientists? Because you can't have it both ways. Scientists are either being punished and fired for speaking against evolution, or they're allowed to keep their jobs and mocked for it.

And while you're deciding which is which, please present some actual, verifiable evidence for either of these scenarios.

Will this do?
All eight of the Dover school board members who were up for re-election on November 8, 2005 were defeated by a set of challengers who opposed the teaching of intelligent design in a science class. (The ninth member was not up for re-election.) The school board president subsequently stated that the board did not intend to appeal the ruling.

A) Not scientists.

B) Likely not fired for their beliefs, but rather for how they tried to push those beliefs.

C) No evidence that there was any collusion going on behind the scenes.

D) Lost in a fair election.

So...no.
In other words, QED?

No, of course not all. That is why some have had their jobs taken into question. Or they have papers censored like Granville Sewell.

This next link is not about evolution vs creationism but does illustrate how scientists must stay within the consensus or face losing grant monies from the government and losing their jobs.

They didn't go there. The Discovery Institute came to them and they are still trying to reach many others. As for where are we? We are still in the same place, the scientists asked to be removed from the list and DI left them there.
