Hello,

I'd like to request prayers to help me build up my faith. I've been searching for the truth for a very long time but haven't found a lot in the way of answers. Long story short, I've explored a number of religions and gone through a period of atheism, but nothing feels right. Honestly, I know I haven't given this search my all. I've expected to pray for salvation and instantly feel completely different, but without making any changes. Also, I've jumped around a lot, decided to be into this religion this day and done by the end of the week. I worry about not knowing the truth and allowing emotions to interfere with my seeking and mislead me. Right now, I'm trying to look deeper into Christianity. My parents are Christians but are not churchgoers, and to be fair I'm not sure if my dad's beliefs are mainstream with Christianity. I don't have any Christian friends in my life. I'd just like prayers for guidance and to know the truth. I'd like to be "moved" if that makes sense. I've committed to setting aside a few minutes a day to read the Bible and pray. It would be great if the answers could come.

Thanks so much.

Certainly, I'll send a few up for you.
Different people experience coming to faith differently, for some it can be quite dramatic, and for others it can be a much 'simpler' moment. For some it can be sudden and for others it can be fairly gradual. As you probably know that already, I hope that it doesn't sound patronising, it's me trying to say, don't worry if you don't have the big instant feeling of "Oh Yeeeah, this is it".
I know exactly what you mean when you say that you'd like to be moved though.

For me it came when I least expected it (as these things do :p ). I'd been baptised a few months beforehand, and so had felt that I'd started to actually believe for myself (as opposed to just going to church each week because I was 'supposed to'). I'd started University and had moved away from home, so what I did with my faith was completely up to me now. After I'd been at uni for a few weeks and had found excuses to not bother with church, I met with the Methodist chaplain at my University who told me about the different churches in the area, and said that he was preaching at one of them that Sunday evening, so I decided (reluctantly) to go. During one of the hymns, I had what I can only describe as a 'Wesley Experience' whereby "I felt my heart strangely warmed and felt that I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation; and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death."
For me this was the completion of the journey I'd started when I was baptised a few months before, and helped to really be a Christian, and not just someone who went to church each week.

That's just my story though, I'll pray for you that in some way God speaks to you, be it through some physical experience, something someone else says, something you read in your own Bible studying, something completely different, or a mixture.

I feel I've waffled enough now, now time to pray :)

Heavenly Father, we ask that you would reveal your Son to theblackcat. There is no one who can love us like you do because you sent your Son to die for us.
Heavenly Father, we thank you that you hear us and we give glory to you in the highest place.
We pray for all of these things in The Mighty Name of Jesus!!!

I'd like to request prayers to help me build up my faith.
God will now allow trials in your life, to give you the opportunity to build your faith in Him, even when your circumstances look their worst!
I've been searching for the truth for a very long time but haven't found a lot in the way of answers.
Only those who seek Him with their whole heart will find Him. He promised you would, and He has yet to be proven a liar.

Jeremiah 29:13
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Long story short, I've explored a number of religions and gone through a period of atheism, but nothing feels right.
That's good, because there is a way that 'feels' right, but the end thereof is the ways of death.
Honestly, I know I haven't given this search my all.
I think you've just identified the problem.
I've expected to pray for salvation and instantly feel completely different, but without making any changes.
Salvation isn't feelings.
Also, I've jumped around a lot, decided to be into this religion this day and done by the end of the week.
God doesn't mind what denomination we choose or whether we're religious or not. He's all about the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Right now, I'm trying to look deeper into Christianity.
When you make up your mind, let God know.
I don't have any Christian friends in my life.
You do now.
I'd just like prayers for guidance and to know the truth.
We're already praying for you.
I'd like to be "moved" if that makes sense.
All of us would. Problem is: God has done all He's going to do. The rest is up to us.
I've committed to setting aside a few minutes a day to read the Bible and pray. It would be great if the answers could come.
They will. If they aren't the answers you've been expecting, don't be surprised. God often moves in mysterious ways. He always retains His Mystery.
