A dear friend from our church (and fellow physician) sent out this e-mail tonight:
Happy New Year to Everyone!
I apologize to brings scary news along with my wishes for a happy, healthy new year for you and you families- but I need some help. We were given the news this week that my mom has a colon cancer and is going to have surgery Wed AM at Harris Hosp in Southlake. We believe we have caught it early, and they are planning laparoscopic surgery to remove 1/2 her colon and recovery of 3-4 days. We are very confident in our surgeon, Dr Robert Sewell, who has helped a number of my previous patients.
I am asking for your help to take my mother's name, Rena Bowsher, and Dr Robert Sewell to your churches and prayer groups to ask that God's hand be on each of them as they work together on Wed AM. My family and I are fine and optimistic that she will have a good recovery. We ask for your support to bless this wonderful woman with strength and courage.
I thank you all for your love and support to me over the years. I will keep you posted on Friday after the surgery results are in.

Holy Theotokos intercede for her to your Son that he will shower her with His mercy. Holy Saint Nektarios, well-pleasing to God: we turn unto thee, who art the speedy helper and intercessor to guide the hands of her surgeon, Robert, as he works to bring bodily healing as Christ brings healing to our souls.
