Oh boy...does this mean that for those who have booked their next vacation within a US National Park that they might need to look for an alternative venue?

It means something has finally gone right. Repubs aren't stellar in their political conduct lately, but bad things always happen when Dems have bully power. Maybe now some of this can by mitigated or reversed over the last 2 lame duck years.

tbo... to me the topic is as clear as the adhesiveness of soil types.
National Park Service defends shutdown closures link

A little while back the US government did the unthinkable when they forcibly closed their National Parks due to a ruckus with the Republicans. During this time there were many very unhappy campers (pun intended) in the US. Twelve months earlier my wife and I spent a number of nights in five National Parks so there were quite a few international tourists who had some very unfriendly thoughts toward the US.

As both houses of the US Federal government are now (or about to be) run by the Republicans with a Democratic President, I am wondering how this will effect how their government runs for the next two years until Obama's Presidency expires.

Interesting observation. The Democrats had control of the Congress and Senate, by shear numbers they could pass most anything they wants. They also had the executive branch. But somehow it was the minorities fault.

At least those who by majority who support a "womans right to choose", while they don't support a persons right to own a gun, are not in charge!^_^

Being as Obama tends to do as he pleases without the necessary approval it could get even more scary than it is now.

A Question for our American friends here.

Do you think the Republicans and Democrats are mostly similar in policy and actions? Or are they different?

I ask because in the United Kingdom of England, the three main parties, Conservative, Liberal and Labour, you couldn't get a sheet of paper between them. The only real difference is in the logo.

God Bless:)

They are different in idealogy only.

Republicans tend to be conservative capitalists

Democrats tend to be liberal socialist.

It is a fairly wide divide.

Do you feel that the new UKIP's could take center stage as their policies, or at least with their policies toward the EU seem to be striking a cord with many Brits and apparently with many Christians as well.

From an Australian perspective, when it comes to the two major US parties it seems that they both kowtow to the industrial-military moguls which is not so good for the rest of the world.

Due to the voting system I don't think they'll win many seats at the next election. Many of their candidates do give the impression of being completely and absolutely nuts as well.

I think the only reason that a Christian would vote for such an eccentric party would be the view that the ten nations of the EU are the revised Roman Empire, ten horns, the beast, AC and all that. However given that the EU moved on from ten nations and is now twenty something, that view is loosing ground.

Speaking from personal experience, many of the Eastern Europeans I have worked with are all excellent workers, honest people.

Thanks, I was wondering if you going to something like this. It does appear that many of the new parties have a tendency to attract the unusual; here in Australia the Green's tend to attract the more "unusual" voters.
