Mod Hat On:

Starting on page 21, I went through and did a thread clean up. We had swearing, off-topic, flaming, goading and other fun things. Several posts that were good had to go because they wouldn't make sense without the prior post. I did my best to clean up and get this thread back on topic about the Republican party being in decline or not. Please keep it there.

But if I may, it should be added that the topic laid before is in the OP was whether or not the Republican Party is in decline BECAUSE IT MAY NOT BE MODERATE ENOUGH. Not whether it may be in decline for some other reason.

It seems to me that the Republican Party might be on the decline long term if it doesn't begin to appeal to more moderate voters. With the Tea Party, now officially the most hated group in the United States, associating itself with conservative views and some of the congressional activities of late only serving to sully the Republican reputation further, what are your guys' thoughts on the future? Do you think there will be a split within the party and it will become more divided, will some of its positions change, etc.

Note: I myself do not really associate with any particular political party, on many views I am rather liberal, but there are still issues on which I am rather conservative.

Since we're doubling down on Republicans in the early 20th century, allow me to introduce some Democrats during that same time period ... just for the sake of perspective.

Saul of Tarsus was a convicted mass murderer. He was appointed by the Lord to lead a church. Today Saul is known as St Paul.

Was Saul Repulican or Democrat?
Your post has nothing to do with the subject matter.
Btw,FDR was no saint.

Precisely. I was also interested in whether or not it might become more moderate in the future or change some positions entirely in order to prevent such a decline. I suppose we shall still see.

After WWll the US brought hundreds of Nazi scientists back to the US to help them set up their rocket programme, without them the US would never have got to the moon or had any kind of space programme at all.
When needs must the devil drives.

The Nazis also forced a lot of Jewish scientists to work for them, with those that refused getting sent to the camps. In fact, a great number of the brightest minds in Germany controlled areas were in fact Jewish, so there is a great probability that most of those scientists were victims of the war rather than willing participants

So true.

The Bible teaches that people are to be given a second chance. This is a message lost on many professing Christians.

Hence, inspiration for my poem. That component goes to the Wrath stanza, only the Pride stanza is in my signature
