  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You need to read what the Scripture says and only what it says. It clearly says "wert grafted in among them," it doesn't say "wert grafted into them."

Same thing. Stop nit picking meaningless differences.

Initial confirmation of Israel's ethnic diversity, with God's covenant extended to Jew and Gentile alike:

Genesis 17:12
And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

Confirmation of Israel's increasing ethnic diversity, with a “mixed multitude” accompanying them in the exodus:

Exodus 12
37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.
38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.

Recurrent references to the "stranger” i.e. Gentiles who were to be accepted by Israel as their own, and to whom God's covenant applied upon compliance with its requirements:

Exodus 12:48
And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

Exodus 12:49
One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

Leviticus 19:34
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus 24:22
Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the Lord your God.

Numbers 15:16
One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.

Faith in and obedience to God and His covenant requirements were His sole conditions.
Physical DNA was never one of those requirements.

And not one verse that says “The BOC is Israel”.

Romans 11 says otherwise about physical DNA. Israel is “on hold”, while a strange people now shoulder the Light.

Israel was already a "mixed multitude" at the beginning of covenant history:

Genesis 17:12
And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

It increased in the exodus.

Still Israel and not the BOC.

New Testament verse that outright says the BOC Superseded Israel in title and is now Israel?

Romans 11 cannot say otherwise without contradicting the Scriptures I've cited.

Does it?

Does it?

Romans 11:28 As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

How plain does it have to be?

Peace and Christ’s blessings always upon you. It’s been wonderful to discuss scripture.

That's an argument from silence fallacy. Exact wording is not needed if the concept is found, which it is. Only Christians are branches on the tree, only Christians make up the body of Christ. It's the same thing using two analogies.

Since the original branches are Jews then the tree is Israel by default because the only way to be an original (natural) branch was to be born Jewish/Israelite. Gentiles grafted onto that tree means grafted onto Israel making the BOC/the church part of Israel.

Peace and Christ’s blessings always upon you. It’s been wonderful to discuss scripture.

It's abundantly plain.

The gifts and the calling are terms associated exclusively with those who have put their faith in Christ: His Church.

Upon whom does God bestow His gifts?

Romans 12:6
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

1 Corinthians 12:1
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

1 Corinthians 12:4
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:9
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

1 Corinthians 12:28
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:12
Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

God's gifts were not, and are not, bestowed upon those of Paul's countrymen according to the flesh who are enemies of the gospel.
They are bestowed exclusively upon God's "all Israel" remnant of His Holy Chosen People: His Church.
To them, and to no others, His gifts are irrevocable.

To whom is God's calling directed?

1 Corinthians 1:26
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

1 Corinthians 7:20
Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.

Ephesians 1:18
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Ephesians 4:4
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

2 Thessalonians 1:11
Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Hebrews 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

2 Peter 1:10
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

God's calling was not, and is not, directed to those of Paul's countrymen according to the flesh who are enemies of the gospel.
It is directed exclusively to God's "all Israel" remnant of His Holy Chosen People: His Church.
To them, and to no others, His calling is irrevocable.

Under no conditions or circumstances can unbelievers, enemies of the gospel, ever be the recipients of God's gifts and calling.

You’re adding your slant. It’s not there.

Mere straws grasped at. I’m not perpetuating a game of scriptural whack a mole.

I’ve enjoyed this discussion.

Peace and blessings in Jesus.

It's there which is why what I am saying isn't being directly addressed. Mocking a position is not the same as disproving it.

Hardly. The BOC isn't God's wife, Israel is. God's wife isn't His Son's bride.

Sorry but among them isn't the same as in them. Among doesn't mean become them. In means to become them.

Either way, the gentile branches are upon the same tree the natural branches are so the gentiles do join the Jews, all accepting Christ. This means the Jews became the BOC first, then gentiles joined them.
