CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm sentimental. A heartfelt card means more to me (especially written in his own words) than diamonds or gold, not that I would complain, but I would never demand it. I am the type that thinks it is special when my husband picks a rose for me with his own fingers.
Of course he is welcome to do that any time of the year.

I don't like Valentine's Day. I don't want anything for that day and he knows that. He honors my wishes about it for the most part. It's a waste of money IMHO.

Oh I don't mind getting it from you all here.
I just don't go out and buy things nor do I want money spent on me like that. I'll take back rubs. Feet rubs. Help with dishes etc. That means more to me than buying me something. If he made something himself of course I would value that over something store bought any day.
I'm more of a giver than a receiver though.

I love home made cards the best. I have every home made card my daughter has made me over the years for all the holidays. (I keep them in a photo album)

I've been running to get kids, LOL.
Re: husbands, wives, marriage, chores, cooking etc. Sometime ago Gary Chapman wrote a book called The Five Love Languages. He says that while all people need love, they do not all “speak” the same “love language.” He writes, “What makes one person feel loved emotionally is not always the thing that makes another person feel loved emotionally." He contends that if we can discover the language that meets the needs of our spouse, we can be more effective in helping them to feel loved.
There is also the idea of reciprocity. That is, that if you can meet your spouse’s needs, your spouse will feel loved, and be more willing to meet your needs.
The book helped me tremendously. It's true, as couples we often don't recognize each other's needs. Sometimes we don't even recognize our own needs in a marriage.
At another Christian website, my husband, I and several others discussed this book and other books besides. Here is an URL, if anyone is interested. Btw, at that site I am known as "Diana."
