CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Baseball is actually the only sport to not have a salary cap in place and thus to not be played on a fair playing field! Why would I want to follow a mid market team like the Pirates when they have no chance against Boston or New York who could easily outspend them, even if they had generous owners with deep pockets? To get me watching baseball on a regular basis the MLB would need to level the playing fields a bit.

Lord Stanley's Cup is the oldest trophy, has far and away the most history and is certainly the most legendary of all championship trophies - they call it the Holy Grail for a reason. It's also the only trophy that fans can regularly touch, hug, kiss, be photographed with. It doesn't just belong to the NHL, the championship team or even the team - it belongs to all of hockey.
and PNRHH - if you learned a tad about hockey you'd love it (it leaves baseball in the dust)
