I didn't understand it after he explained it ^_^

me either....but it is nice to know that someone understands the reasons behind something.

It is based on how computers store numbers, in Binary.

so Left Side in Binary, Right side is Decimal

00000000 = 0
00000001 = 1
00000010 = 2
00000011 = 3
ect
now for each Digit in Binary it = 2^Place
so first Place is 0 2^0 =1
2^1 = 2
2^2 = 4
2^3 = 8
2^4 = 16
2^5 = 32
2^6 - 64
2^7 = 64 (So the first 8 Bits (2^0 to 2^7) By adding the bits give you 1 Byte (A Number between 0 and 255)
2^8 = 256
2^15 = 32768 (2^8 to 2^15 is another 8 bits, when combined with the first Byte gives you a word (A storage term) that is between 0 and 65535 )

The Database holds the Rep Value using a "Long Word" (2 Words, or 4 Bytes)
2^0 - 2^31 = 4294967295

You can read more on Binary (And links to the other computer number systems ) at this WiKi

I noticed the rep cap a while back, when Gazelle, Ty and Joy Shirley were no longer going up.

I quit the trades last week and have just been blessing people in three different forums. I've learned something, though. Most people are not grateful for the stars I've given them. Some are, but most aren't. Very strange.

You know, I've run into that too ARiel. I came to realize that the ones who aren't repping in other forums just don't CARE about them whatsoever. They don't care if they get any and they don't care to send any back.
Who knew! (took me long enough to figure it out):doh: :sorry:

True. Some are grateful, I've been glad to help them. Some are really, really happy. But that is the minority.

Sigh...

Well, unto other things.

It could be that they don't know how their rep count increased or even where to read the rep messages. I sent a rep picture of a cute kitten (she loves cats) to a friend of mine who is never on the rep threads. She didn't know that I sent it til I mentioned it while on the phone with her.

Before I visited the rep threads, I thought my rep count only increased because of the number of posts that I made. I didn't know about the rep button. I would give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they just don't know. :hug:

I know I always am greatful to the people that gave me stars. I always enjoyed these rep threads plus the fellowship and the friends that I have met. What Rosey said could be true. When I started on here I didn't know about the rep power thing either. God bless you all

SCJ, it's true, you are grateful. You were one of three who thanked me after two days of giving all my stars away.

I have now given away stars for five days--more than 200 stars, to more than 40 or 50 people. I have been thanked seven times.

So yes, there are those who are grateful. Rose you may be right, they may not even know what it is.

Well, the topic here is the rep cap. Frankly I am happy to see it.

With some it could definitely be true - with others, I do know they know what reps are.
And the other thing about it is that just becuz we care about reps doesn't mean everyone else does. Other people don't think they're significant and it doesn't matter if they get any reps or not.... they usually don't give them out either.

So we shouldn't be projecting our care about reps onto others. Just that when people show a lack of acknowledgment, I just don't spend any more on them, I find others to bless who do care.
It's not a negative thing as I see it.:)

And I'm not going to pm them to find out if they noticed that I repped them :o ^_^

You guys made a good point. You two's repping power is awesome, I don't know how people couldn't be apprecitive when they receive reps from you two. I hope things change and get back to the way they used to. Have a great day you two. And as always thanks for the stars. God bless getting ready to leave for church.

One other thing to remember.
That if they don't see the reps on there first page (I.E. if others also give them reps)
And your reps fall to the second page, they Can't see who gave it to them.

After the second page, all reps show as coming from "N/A"

(Also that's the name they see if they just click on View All reps)
SO it could also be that they have no idea who is giving them the reps.

Well good news then becuz once I hit the quota, I'm dumping reps in here.
I'm stretched way thin on trades which is why I can't keep repping in here - plus I have regular friends in other forums...
anyways, I should be repping alot in here in the near future & I'm excited about it =0) :pray::clap::wave:

I'm kinda happy they're capping it (even if temporarily).
