CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In fact, note that if you look at Speaking the Truth in Love | Ancient Faith Ministries and sort from "Old to New", it starts with a series on Lent, which is pretty useful for those of us who happen to be, at this very moment, in the early part of Lent.

Memory eternal! I like him a lot, but that could be some of my own priest's influence. He's quite the fan himself.
Edit: Since my priest is a former student of St. Vladimir's seminary(he has a PhD from there) then it's very likely he knew Fr. Thomas Hopko personally.

a great pastor, gifted preacher, knew Scripture in and out, had a knack for making Orthodoxy down to earth, and could really put on a clinic at how to lead a heterodox or non-believer into a false sense of security in a debate.
