One thing im certain of is that i could never see myself fitting in with the catholic church. There is too much reliance on the man-made version of faith. I will continue to study the bible and pray for clarity and trust that the Holy Spirit will lead me to the right place.

Sounds like a reasonable plan.

Haha I was raised Catholic. I totally understand how you feel
I was raised Catholic too! :) Also did 12 years of Catholic school.
I ended up leaving Catholicism when I was about 22.

Haha no lasting issues here, but the whole experience did help me to truly understand who Jesus is.

In our human-ness, we have a real hard time understanding "Grace." So we try to wrap God in a pretty little box called "Law."

God has given us many commands, most of which make a WHOLE LOT of sense if you think about it, but He also, in His infinite wisdom, gave us Jesus, as payment for those times when we cannot or do not meet them.

Jesus came because God needed to show the world that He is so much bigger and more loving than any law, and that His love and mercy never ends, no matter what religion you follow. Its not about being "Catholic" or "Baptist" or whatever!

Its about being "WithGod!"

I am a 22 year old girl, brought up in a christian community and have always followed the 'church rules'. But the more I learn about all the atrocities that have been commited by 'men of God' throughout history the more I am beginning to question everything christianity stands for.

I still believe in God and our saviour Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, but i cannot reconcile the Holy trinity with religion. Religion is not holy it is man made! The bible frustrates me! Its full of contradictions and so sexist! And most christians I know are judgemental and arrogant and do not have the slightest bit of compassion or tollerance.

And it is simply impossible to be happy if i am constantly feeling anguish and guilt for every sin i commit. I am pro-choice. I don't believe in marriage. I dont believe being gay is wrong. I DONT believe in women being submissive to men. And i will NOT repent for these beliefs! Does that make me a sinner condemned to hell for all eternity??? Please help me find answers.
Yeah, the point at which it no longer made sense to me, I renounced my faith and I've never felt better. Best of luck to you on whatever you decide.

Elle I am an open minded christian and find it hard to fit with fundamentalists, lol actually they annoy me!

Life is not the bed of roses we get told it is in the media, the reality is its like a bed of thorns. Much of the bible deals with unpleasant stuff that in different times would seem more normal.
AS we look at history we are equating actions of men facing adversity against our lives wich is not a fair equation. compared to some of them we live in heaven.

God does not like religion either just like we dont! I think our purpose was to engage in a personal one on one relationship with him in humility, kindness and self sacrifice where he ministers to our needs.

Ours is not to oppress but to love and build up others in the face of adversity in this world.

Troughout 30 years I have seen christianity change downtrodden men and women into beautiful people that benefit their communities.

I have seen guys miss the mark in the faith where it didn't work for them and become miserable cynical self absorbed non believers.

You take the good with the bad. You just ignore it all and get on with your own life and what you can do to be a positive force in the world.

In other words dont worry bout it! Worry wont change a single thing!

If you hang in there with your faith and it works for you you will end up better off in life and hopefully you wont end up a miserable whinging anti christian cynic.

Matthew 10:22
All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Never think of it as a sweet easy deal its the opposite, its not easy but often worthwhile things involve difficulty.

What conclusions were they?

Well, I do not have the time to elaborate on them very much at the moment, but I will give the bare bones basics. That "Religion" is a creation of man, and that the creator has nothing but compassion and love for all living things. Things like "Hell" and "Heaven" are something we forge ourselves, and that no one is sent anywhere for different beliefs or lack of beliefs. And the most important leson was that Love, unconditional Love for all, is what forges Paradise for us in the next world.

That is the bare basics for you.
