I think one thing that confuses academians who think God acted one way in the Old Testament, and another way in the New, is the fact that the Old Testament covered a period of almost four thousand years.

And we see God handling a variety of circumstances:

1. peace
2. war
3. martial law
4. sin
5. rebellion
6. idolatry
7. you name it
