I'm not from Europe of course, but I find it strange that all these people who want to let in "refugees" love to invoke "Do it for the women and children". Yet, in most of the video Ive seen of Syrian refugees crossing the borders, there are almost no women or children. Id say at least 95% of those crossing the borders are men.

This whole situation is incredibly problematic. There are people fleeing for their lives, people who just want to live off of Germany's welfare, and terrorists, and there's no way to tell them apart or screen them. And if there was, it would be too controversial to implement. And on top of that, there is the politically sound thing to do, and the Christian thing to do, and both sides accuse the other side of being blind to reality.

This was the headline of an article written by a Christian contributor to a liberal newspaper in the UK.
He says it is the right Christian response.
Is he right?

Not very well thought through,
there are many who are generous with what is not theirs.

I wonder if he would be willing to take in a family in his own home,
not just for one day, week, month, year but for altime.

Wonder if he even pays tax.l

As an extra - did Christ ever turn away anybody who came to him in need?
We don't know the answer to this. On the other hand, the reason we do not know the answer is because this was not his purpose on Earth.

There are many debates going on about what we should do about the migrants but what I am wanting to discuss is how the contributor felt able biblically or religiously that he could or should make such an absolutist statement. "Let them all in"
As an extra - did Christ ever turn away anybody who came to him in need?

There was the woman who asked Jesus to heal her daughter and originally He told her no, but she convinced Him by her faith in Him. I believe He at first rebuked her saying, "It's not right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs".

The situation is too complicated for me to make a solid opinion. One thing I do know is that it is written that Damascus will become a ruinous heap and that is what it is becoming. Its looking like syria and Iraq are going to be occupied by radical islamists and citizens left behind will be killed, tortured, raped and if they are very lucky they might be allowed to stay there so long as they continue to pay money to Isis.

They need to leave those areas. It is very dangerous.

this will be last reply since I don't really know too much details on the issue

with the Australian example

I thought about it

the reality is Asia is actually very scary place compares with western countries

there is absolutely no social security net

if you don't have a job, no savings, no family or friends who will support you

you end up on the street and starve

if you have a health issue with no insurance, you might literally end up with nothing because of the cost, or if you cant afford to come up with the money to cover the cost, you live with illness, no matter how serious

not only that

Asian countries are not rooted in Christian tradition

society in general is very cold and survival of the fittest

on top of it, there might be discrimination towards outsiders who arrives.

so that makes me wonder how will refugees survive in those places

they don't know how to speak the language, no local qualification, dont know the culture, dont know anybody?

anyway thank you for all your contributions

Not according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, however the middle of last year men made the majority, but these days men are not the majority.

Last June, men accounted for 73 per cent of those who risked the dangerous sea crossing to Europe from Turkey, via Greece. But according to new figures from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, they have accounted for just 45 per cent so far this year.

Once upon a time there was a "proper" and legal channel for "genuine" refugees.
Now, there may or may not be still,
but there is overwhelming numbers not genuine, thwarting the system, thwarting common sense, on purpose inundating places for purposes not published openly as far as I've seen.

From news from some or many countries the last few years or decades, the people who lived with their own gardens and /or farms, or even working where they could benefit from good soil and food grown in their area,
where driven into cities by soldiers, policia, national or guerillas, and their farmlands taken, possibly made it impossible for some time to grow anything.
No, there's not likely any , or very little available, "lush and uninhabited land on Earth" left to be enjoyed except by the rich, elite, in power.
The plans in place worldwide are being carried out daily. Executions are daily also, btw. Also starvation, dying of thirst, and much cruelty.

Like what happened to the Native Americans when Europeans invaded North America. They seized the lands that was free to the natives and then made a huge profit from it.

Does this mean the wealth of the entire world came from evil deeds? No wonder the Bible refers to worldly wealth as 'unrighteous'. And somehow, makes a lot of people blind to the truth, sparing no one, not even the best examples of Christians.

The ones following Jesus wherever He Goes are doing the best anyone can do, right ?
As long as they listen to , obey, and stay with the Perfect Shepherd, even if they become martyrs, and suffer long, they are "right with God" .....

In the corrupted Gospel, they see long suffering as a bad thing or at least expects a glorious worldly reward at the end of it, ignoring Hebrews 11 that promises are not assured in this world. And then are proud of their worldly wealth and achievements while projecting a deluded form of humility.
