Technically, since in 1517 everyone was still using the Julian Calendar the actual five hundredth anniversary will be thirteen days later, October 31st on the Julian, but November 13th on the Gregorian.

Though obviously, like all liturgical events, this isn't an issue; though it was something that occurred to me recently (because it's easy to forget how relatively recently the switch from Julian to Gregorian happened). The American colonies were still using the Julian calendar until the mid 1700s when the British finally adopted it, which means George Washington was born on a Julian calendar date, but became the first president of the United States on a Gregorian calendar date.
