• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

neener ... and once more with feeling ... neener

I've got to go tend my latest TWeb thread where I'm batting it about with Justin and a few other folks. Ya'll are welcome to hit it with some serious posting if you feel a need to break up the straight spam diet. Don't let the OP throw you, I needed to separate things out from an earlier thread that started the discussion.

'Fraid the body is gonna just have to wait, Crow.

I have heard the term originated from a derogatory intent toward farmers(very manual labor). (An ID mark would be their "red" necks, from working in the sun all day in the field) but I figure I qualify for membership as a girl from the "Heart of Dixie" if "nuthin" else.
Having done a bit of serious gardening, I can verify that it does produce "redneck"!

Welcome to the Redneck's Club, dyanm!

I just love little quips like that. I love the liberties some of my folk take with words and phrases giving no thought to it and the reactions they/we get. I was stopped by Yankees from MI in the middle of the UA campus who were asking for directions to a concert and told them "ya'll ain't too far from it -- as the crow flies" (should have seen their faces--then I welcomed them to "dixie and southern hospitality" and said follow me and led them where they were headed) I can say words like "change "(for a dollar) and nevah (never) and get lots of smiles...My late husband used to swear by saying "Jesus Christ and a couple of by-Gods", just rambling see ya'll....

Sorry to be absent, but I was over on another thread exposing a Reiki practitioner who was claiming her alternative "medicine" was the real deal...

Those kinds of people really irritate me.

So, what'd I miss? Anything but Jesse whining?

Oh geeeze. I did that once. What a scam!

I know, I rarely talk about it. It was when I was young and foolish. I'm way older and more jaded now. Thank goodness.

I invited Zimmy and Ninja man to this thread. I once PMed Mr. 5020 but either he hates me or he doesn't check his messages here very often. I'm sure its the latter.;)

Oh, I just popped over to Taoist's thread on Tweb. I've had a username there for a while but I never go over there. But, I do love to freak people out by popping up all over the web.:D I can't get used to the setup at Tweb. It's hard for me to follow for some reason.

I can make the 1st one sound like it's all one word. In fact we used to play tricks on people we did not know by going up to them and acting like we knew em and saying that--the reactions were hilarious. I used to run a furniture store in a "small" town in northern Alabama and I would get delivery directions like

"You know where Sheriff so&so lives"?

Turn Where the old yellar school bus "used to be"

and my personal favorite "Take a right by the 3 plastic cows"

In order to get customers to give you a street address you had to ask them for their "911" address or otherwise this is the stuff you'd get.;)
