Recovery from the occult forum - an explanation

I've helped some be delivered online before. But those who are as deep in some of this stuff as is seen on here at times, must get help in real life and all the 'counsel' on a message board just won't cut it. They need help from a deliverance ministry, not just from pastors or ministers who do not have that particular calling.

If they are sincere, they will give you there name and info and you can find someone in their area to help them.

Sure, Father Rick should liaise with constance and the Recovery Team to develop some guidelines over the forum.

The forum is not even 24 hours old yet - it's still new and being developed. Without question, if run properly, good will come out of this. It's all about Jesus, and in that forum, that's where we can let Jesus shine so that darkness can flee.

I am still trying to understand the fullness of it but I do undetsand what it is about and the forum itself is not satan promotion as some think as how its being set up.

when I heard of this, I got upset, knee jerked, even thought extremely breifly its time for this old backslider to move on elsewhere! yep, me. trust me, I was thumbs down earlier.

Then I took the time to read about it, looked into every thread I could find. from here to wiki in recovery. I can see the reason and need for this at this time to be how it is.

I PMd a member of this forum about some questions i had on it and i was explained to me about urges, desires, flashes, etc such as a recovering alcoholic/addict like me has time to time (I know alcholics that been sober 30 yrs that still get hit with urges). But I use my tools to overcome it - meetings, my sponsor, fellow recovering alcoholis that might have the word that day that willhelp me or me them. It is explained to me that same with this forum. And I see it in a different way now than I did earlier today.

Secret? I dont like secrets but I can undersatnd why some folks feel more comfortable.

I would prefer it be located in one of the recovery forums as in you can see the forum name only BUT it be set up private like Recovery reports. or Site Supporter threads are. see the name of the forum but cannot view it unless you got the authorization.

no longer secret. just private. theres a difference. bear in mind - its new, will be getting things worked out, Mods and upper staff to be assigned/approved, folks to get used to a new thing that is controversial, I am not even yet accepted as a Mod in it but it is not an un Moderated forum.

It wont be un moderated. and the ones that will have access but not Mod, they can still read and see whats being posted. so, there is oversight.

At least this is how I am to undertsand this.

OK, this keeps coming up so I would like to address it -

NO ONE on that forum believes that being online is sufficient for everything - that would be like me advocating that you shouldn't go to church - just stay on 4U Sunday - uh uh ain't going to happen. But, this is an outreach - they are right here, right now - that is not going to change. How can you really encourage somebody to 'seek help ELSEWHERE' (that is the message that many spiritually abused people get here, btw). WHen you do want to help in getting them some help in the 3-d world, don't you think that establishing an actual, true, caring relationship with that person may need to be a pre-requisite? And how are we doing that by continuing to allow such 'uncivil' members here to be dragged against the rocks continually? Not a perfect solution, but at least someone cared enough to propose one . . .

Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Then you agree with me. Sometimes those who seek help need to be sheltered from those who call themselves Christians.

what you SHOULD do is shut the whole thing down. Erwin, you have UNQUALIFIED people trying to do this..pastoral doesn't seem interested. NEVER mind the fact, IF people want REAL help, they will go to someone in REAL Life. They NEEd that. WHAT if someone gets sucicidal? People can't jump through the screen and help them. GET real. This is just a huge problem waiting to happen.

What goes on here at times needs more than one person to handle them .And like I said some are too deep to help other than in real life.

Could you call it City of Refuge and remove the Beth She'an part of it, as that was the part people were concerned about?
I rather liked the idea of a "City of Refuge".

It's not there because of coding reasons - to add it as a subforum under one of the categories would mean more coding to hide the new threads' titles that show up on the homepage and other places - really much harder to code. I was trying to make life easier for myself.

Frankly, that applies to the whole Recovery and Mental Health section. Based on your argument, we should close that whole section. But we do have some people who are qualified, either by qualification or by experience.

Obviously that would be addressed on a case by case basis.

Read my first post - Recovery Team and Pastoral Team have access only. And they are all Christians.
