If you are told to recant your faith in Jesus Christ or die, and you choose to be killed, are you commiting suicied?

I say no, you aren't, but I wonder what poeple think about that.

No. Your intent is not to be killed, but rather not to recant your faith. If you were given the option of not recanting your faith and living you would take it, but as that is not possible you have elected to be killed.

Also note that in being killed, you are taking inaction. You are saying that the only option that you have been presented with (recanting) is immoral, so you have decided not to take it. Even though you knew inaction would lead to your death you cannot be held responsible, since all other options that you were presented with were unacceptable.

It doesn't matter what circumstance causes the person the deny Jesus, they still deny Him. Command, peer pressure, or own intentions, it's still the same thing.

Well, Jesus wouldn't ask people to not believe in Him. In fact, He wants everyone to believe in Him.

As for the original question: God says that He comes with a sword to turn us against everyone for His sake. He asks that we forsake everything, family, friends, ourselves, our lives, to follow Him. He is to be IT. So, if someone posed the situation between death and faith it is not suicide. The killing does not belong in your hands. Remember Jesus being crucified? He said those who delivered Him to be sacrificed had the greater sin-He was telling this to Pontius Pilate. We are to give the ultimate sacrifice, our lives, whether it be in our daily walk or if we must choose God despite threat of death. Remember, to die is gain.

That passage does not say, whoever denies me, and dosn't belive in me, it simply states whoever denies Jesus. So yes you have recanted.

I would say that I had to get out of a deadly situation. It's a benefit of having no belief in an afterlife.

No but to repent of it would mean death. Since the poeple that made you recant in the first place, would still want to kill you, and to repent you would have be allow youself to become exposed again.

If you do not confess to believing in God, and His Son Jesus Christ, you would not be in the situation to begin with.

Would they? What if some guys came up to you in the street and threatened to kill you unless you recanted? So you recant. They leave. Now you can ask for forgiveness. Simple, really.

If you live in an area, where that is happening, I can guess those guys, wouldn't be the last, if you go thru life planning to recant, then ask for forgiveness, then you are not truly repenting of it, you will be fooling no one but your self.
