Yes i own a Nativity scene, and you have just anathemaed yourself from the RCC.......well if you were a priest you would be anyways.

Statues are to venerate and whatever 'veneration' is given them is passed on to the one it represents in Heaven.

O really. Thats just fascinating how you come up with these things all by yourself. ;)

So now....lets move onto how you keep statutes.

Do you do things with them??

Bow down and worship them perhaps?
Do you feel that irresistable urge when it hits you?

Just because you own statutes of the beloved in Heaven, doesnt mean you do things to them...beyond veneration.

And your denomination claims to know that God would approve of Mary statues being set up knowing full well what people would do with them

WHAT exactly do ppl do with them?

You have a few...maybe you can enlighten us. ;)

I plug them in and stick them out in the snow so people will be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas, and no i do not venerate them.

Just hold on i'll find you the anathemas, they are real.

Ahhhhhhhh, so you use them to remind yourself of the truth...??

So if its good for you, its not good for a Catholic, because we do what exactly...?
Strange things with them outside of veneration??

What is veneration dear?

I do believe we treat them special, because they are special. THEY are reminders of our beloved ones.

Just as Americans venerate the tombs of soldiers. Or the Wall that has been erected for their memorial.

venerate \VEN-uh-rayt\, transitive verb:
To treat someone or something with deep respect, reverence or deference; to revere.

YOU do not happen to abuse your decorative statutes??

Well of course it is anatehma to go around dissing Mary, but Marion veneration is never the less 100% optional. Didn't you notice Tonks' comments to that regard? He is not a Mary venerator. He thinks Mary is great, but he doesn't do anything special to venerator her, just like you.

TWENTY-FIFTH SESSION, ON THE INVOCATION, VENERATION, AND RELICS OF SAINTS, AND ON SACRED IMAGES: "The holy council commands all bishops and others who hold the office of teaching and have charge of the cura animarum, that in accordance with the usage of the Catholic and Apostolic Church, received from the primitive times of the Christian religion, and with the unanimous teaching of the holy Fathers and the decrees of sacred councils, they above all instruct the faithful diligently in matters relating to intercession and invocation of the saints, the veneration of relics, and the legitimate use of images, teaching them that the saints who reign together with Christ offer up their prayers to God for men, that it is good and beneficial suppliantly to invoke them and to have recourse to their prayers, assistance and support in order to obtain favors from God through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our redeemer and savior; and that they think impiously who deny that the saints who enjoy eternal happiness in heaven are to be invoked, or who assert that they do not pray for men, or that our invocation of them to pray for each of us individually is idolatry, or that it is opposed to the word of God and inconsistent with the honor of the one mediator of God and men, Jesus Christ, or that it is foolish to pray vocally or mentally to those who reign in heaven."

2132 The Christian veneration of images is not contrary to the first commandment which proscribes idols. Indeed, "the honor rendered to an image passes to its prototype," and "whoever venerates an image venerates the person portrayed in it."[70] The honor paid to sacred images is a "respectful veneration," not the adoration due to God alone: Religious worship is not directed to images in themselves, considered as mere things, but under their distinctive aspect as images leading us on to God incarnate. The movement toward the image does not terminate in it as image, but tends toward that whose image it is.[71]

No i said i put them outside so the peoples who see it will be reminded, i don't need to be reminded this way. No i don't abuse them....well not much.....sometimes they hit the side of the door when they are brought in.

Instead of having a cheap plastic nativity scene, we had a very fine porcelain nativity scene. Does that mean my family is going to Hell?

The cheap plastic stuff was saved for reindeer and Santa Clause. Actually, that sounds rather crude to have a light-up plastic Mary and Jesus in your front yard. I have never seen that before, and think it would definitely raise some eye brows.

It commands bishops to instruct veneration of images.
Well surprise surprise, the Bishop has to be prepared for whatever the Church will allow its followers to do.

Anyway, how does this make WarriorAngel or Tonks anathema for not doing it?

I hope u find ur answer. I dont understand why they pray to mary as i dont believe mary was a virgin as jesus had brothers and sisters. And mary didnt have sex until after jesus was born.
So i dont see mary as being holy the only one that was holy was jesus as he was made whole. So go to the man himself. I am not bashing either just my view.

How unholy could the mother of the messiah be? Do you think that Jesus was completely unaffected by being raised by her?

And for the thousandth time, the orthodox do not pray TO Mary, they ask Mary to pray FOR them.
