After reading your post, and reviewing some of the others we've exchanged, I feel like I ought to share with you that I am a very conservative Seventh Day Adventist. The Seventh Day Adventist church I attend now was the first church of any kind to have my name on its roll. The church is actually situated a few miles from several of the places where Ellen White lived, worked, lost and loved. One of her homes was two doors down from mine. I share this only so that you will understand me and where I'm coming from.

These few years later, I have had the opportunity to visit and speak at many many churches, Praise the LORD.

As I mentioned earlier, I believe that the Bible clearly indicates that there will be Prophets in the Earth right up until Jesus returns.
I think Hebrews 1:1-2 disagrees with you and I don't think you can show me any teaching in the Bible that supports what you believe. There is a difference between the prophetic gift and a prophet. I do believe that EGW exercised the prophetic gift on occasion, but she never was a prophet.

To say that Hebrews i:1,2 states that there will be no prophets save Jesus in the last days is saying that because there is no mention of other prophets in the second sentance that they will not exist. I would point out that there are no mention of angels either - yet there is plenty of proof that they will deliver messages in the last days (Revealtion...)

On top of that Ephesians 4:11- 13 teaches us that God, "gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:"

[until when?]

"Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ."

I assure you that tthe fulfillment of this last condition and the return of our Lord will coincide.

I've never heard of any. But then, we aren't home yet, are we? Sorry for the brief response but, other than pointing to some of the other prophets who received the same messages Ellen White did but chose not to do the work God set before them (Foss was one...), I can't think of anything to add here.

We haven't see everything yet. ;)

Hazen Foss and William Foy were contemporaries of EGW. She died in 1915. If we deny Heb. 1:1-2 and refuse to see the distinction between the prophetic gift and the office of a prophet we do the church a disservice. I submit to you that the prophetic gift has been in operation all along but we have found a way to ignore it. Have you ever heard someone ask, "Do you think you are a prophet?" What to you think brought that on?

Where did I say I know how you feel? Are you referring to my used of the word 'exuberance?' It comes from your own testimony.

Yes, they were contemporaries. I didn't mean to imply otherwise. Sorry.

I think we agree about how the Spirit of prophecy "works" if you will (but im not sure...) Can you explain to me kind of slowly how youre getting what youre getting out of the Hebrews text?

Thanks,

How can one hold the office of a prophet if one does not have the prophetic gift???

This would make the office of Gods Prophets no different than the psychic hotline,

Again you misunderstand. It is beginning to look deliberate. Heb. 1:1-2 implies that the office of the prophet would not longer exist, but one can exercise the prophetic gift without being in the office of the prophet.

Does it imply that angels will not exist? And if not, why not?

I'm not goading you, I'm really asking.
