I love re-reading. My books are like friends to me and you don't discard a good friend to collect dust on a shelf.

I've read the Wheel of Time series so many times I've had to tape some of the covers back on multiple times with ducktape.

Re-reading is great, as long as it doesn't become a comfort zone where you are afraid to read and try new things.

Some books you HAVE to re-read because you miss things first time around. Harry Potter is a good example of this.

Rereading can be a great way to relax because you already know the shape of the story and can just relax, and some great books simply demand to be reread because they have so much to say. It's really not a problem unless you're rereading old things more than you're trying new things. That sort of habit can prevent you from discovering lots of new and exciting things if it gets out of hand.

I read a lot of books. Therefore most of them I do not read again. But many many books that I liked a lot, or had a desire to read again I did so. :)
If it's a good book, it's good to read it again. Especially if you own the book. There's no reason to have a book sitting around that you won't read again, unless you are saving it for someone else to read. :)

One book that I like to read a lot is Ella Enchanted. :) One time I couldn't sleep at night, so I just took out the book and read through it, skipping through some parts so that i could quickly read it all that night. :)

There are some other books like Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, and Through the Looking Glass by Carroll, and Winnie the Pooh by Milne, that I love to read, and many times will look through them for random parts to read, or to read the poems/songs in them. :)

I re-read almost everything. Some stuff is just that good, some needs a second go through to get the different level, and some because I'm at a different point in life, so maybe I will find different stuff on those other levels or I will understand things now that I didn't then. The best are the ones that capture more then one of the above reasons. I usually read a new Discworld novel twice in a row. The first time for the story and the second for all the nuances and levels.

Depends on how good the book is I suppose. I read Romeo and Juliet like 3 times because I kept getting more out of it each time. I read the LOTR series about 3 times simply because I loved the story. I want to go back and read some that I read when I was younger, though, because I would understand them better now.

It depends upon the book. My theology books get reread several times and all marked up with notes, just like a textbook. Most fiction in my library doesn't get reread, with a few exceptions like The Lord of the Rings.

When I took a lit class in college, one of the books we read was Dad. The instructor encouraged us to read it through at least once on our own before we got to it in the class. I was the only person in the class who did, and I tell you, a second reading makes a big difference in noticing everything the writer did to construct the story. With a second reading, you really see fore-shadowing and symbolism effects.

I'm currently starting to reread the Horatio Hornblower series. I read several of them when I was a teenager, and now I'm reading them again along with my ten-year-old son.
