  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I loved that article and its so true. Should anyone read it, it's about the decline in the sales of Hip Hop and the steadily growing criticism of certain notions in the Hip Hop game.

I believe that Hip Hop sales are declining because people are beginning to realise that some artists are just talking about garbage. If it's not about how many women you can get a hold of, it's about how many drugs you can smuggle or how many other people you can gun down.

I used to love hip hop like that, and so does alot of the rest of the world! Everyone seems to think that's its America to blame. America this america that. Akon's at the forefront of hip hop and he's from Africa! I loved what he used to rap/sing about - his first album Trouble was magical. Now it's just stuff I've heard all before; 'I wanna **** you, Smack that...' and so on.

Hip hop needs a rejuvenation and people like Kanye,Lupe,Common are doing just that. Even probably Hip Hop's greatest Lyricist, Nas has released an album, "Hip Hop is dead."

It's by no means dead, but the movement is dying.

The above article and the lyrics below have basically been my opinion of rap for quite a while,
Yo
Watch as the room rocks
Mentally moon walk
Mixed media slang
Banging in your boom box
Verbal violence
Lyrical stylist
In a time when rock hip hop rhymes are childish
You can't tempt me with rhymes that are empty
Rapping to a beat doesn't make you an emcee
With your lack of skill and facility
You're killing me
And a DJ in the group just for credibility
I heard that some of you are getting help with your rhymes
You're not an emcee if someone else writes your lines
Rapping over rock doesn't make you a pioneer
Cause rock and hip hop have collaborated for years
But now they're getting randomly mixed and matched up
All after a fast buck and all the tracks suck
So how does it stack up
None of it's real
You want to be an emcee you've got to study the skill

Who can rock a rhyme like this
Bring it to you every time like this
Who can rock a rhyme like this
Step, step up, step, step up

So you pick up a pen and write yourself a new identity
But mentally you don't have the hip hop energy
With a tendency to make up stories
Sounding like the only hip hop you've heard is top 40 (top 40)
And your record company is completely missing it
All the kids are dissing it for not being legitimate
So in a battle you can't hack it
React with whack [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth]
And get smacked with verbal back flips
Get your ass kicked by fabulous battle catalysts
It's taken decades for emcees to establish this
You're new to hip hop and welcome if your serious
But not on the mic
Leave that to the experienced

Rap has nothing to do with negativity. It's an art form which can be used for good or evil. Just like any other art form. At the moment it's dominated by not so great artists. It will change. Rap will never die. But the kind of lyrics that dominate it will.

Well said...let's just pray that God will rescue rap in the same way that God used Jonah to rescue Nineveh when they were going off the rails a little. They repented and changed their ways and then God was happy again!!

Lupe Fiasco - Handcuffs.

I'm starting to love Lupe so much. He's like the Muslim version of a Christian yearning for God and realising that Muhammad and Allah are the basis of his life and everything that he does goes through them and he is with them.

He doesn't make worship music about Allah but he raps about life. Black life, gun crime, a ghetto life and his own life whilst integrating Muhammad and Allah and his Muslim faith into that. It really is something to be admired and it's funny that he's Kanye's protegee; a Christian after God's own heart.

So I feel rap has paved the way in stating Muslims and Chrisitans can collaborate, profess their faith and still advance in life amicably.

God bless the both of them.

What kind of rap artists and types of rap do you like Godzgirl...
Have you looked back through the thread at the positive and negative aspects that rap and some rap artists have brought to light?
Hope to hear your voice in all its might on this forum.
God bless you.
