  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What's on the radio, propoganda, mind control
And turnin it on is like puttin on a blindfold
Cuz when you bringin the real you don't get rotation
Unless you take over the station
And yeah I know it's part of they plans
To make us think it's all about party and dancin
And yo it might sound good when you spittin your rap
But in reality, don't nobody live like that
You wanna know what kinda n**** I am?
Lemme tell you 'bout the n**** I'm not - I don't f*** with the cops
Platinum don't mean that it gotta be hot
I ain't gotta love it, even if they play it a lot
You can hear it when you walk the streets
How many people they reach, how they use music to teach
A "radio program" ain't a figure of speech
Don't sleep, cuz you could be a radio freak

Turn off the radio.

"Today Was A Good Day" is probably his best song.
"It Was a Good Day". That song is classic. "Today I didn't even have to use my A.K.I got to say it was a good day".

Btw, anyone heard the new Nas? I can't stop playing that new single, "Hip Hop Is Dead". I don't know if it's 'cause I haven't slept all day or what, but that thing is so damn catchy.

I don't mind the odd song here and there from some few and far between rap artists that have a wide enough vocabulary that they don't have to cuss every second word or are intelligent enough to write a song that isn't about either sex, drugs, or shooting people, but, hey, such a rap artist is rare.

I guess I like some R&B (not very much though), and I don't mind rap/sung collaborations too much. Other than that, pass, I like me some Pop or Rock. ;)

There are some, ever heard S.E.X( good message in it). Or that some by Mary J. Blige and Ludacris, "Runaway Love." Or "I know I can" by Nas.

Song with good messages. But rock aint all that good either. I have heard song that go"lete the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor." or "psycho, groupie, cocaine, groupie, makes you highi, makes you high."

So hey not all music is good and not all is bad.

Word...I don't know why people make such a big deal over rap..I think rock has way more problems because some of it is clearly satanic and evil (Marilyn Manson, etc)

By tha way, is that new Nas CD worth buying?

"Word". Havent heard that since 1st grade, but hey. Anyway half the stuff you all are talking about I don't know. Ice Cube and Nas yeah, but all these other artists, are they local rappers or just probably not popular in my area?

This kind of attitude drives me crazy. Not the fact that you hold it, this isn't any sort of attack on you, but the fact that the rap and hip-hop that gets exposure is exactly the type that you describe. However, artists who write songs about things other than sex, drugs, and shooting people are all over the place, they just don't get radio play or MTV exposure (though Common is in a Gap commercial now )

I might suggest that it's a government conspiracy intended to keep black people subjugated by encouraging them to pursue an inherently self-destructive lifestyle in pursuit of success, but that would probably seem conspiratorial.
I was looking through this thread looking for someone to finally say something like this. GOOD ON YOU SIR. Now I like to feel I'm a Christian and have a good relationship with God. I also love rap music. Rap in general has all this baggae of gun crime, drugs, orgies and general unholiness attached to it but that's just a small proportion of the industry.

Eminem for example, although he uses every word under the sun - he has a very intelligent and interesting point of view, not to mention his music is fantastic. If you can take the cursing and look deeper into his music, there is real art there, and I like it.

When an artist talks about how well he can satisfy a woman, I'll simply change the song and listen to a different one. As I've grown in God, he's told me to become more diligent with the music that I listen to and I've adhered to that. In fact I'm going through old collections of mine now and I'm shocked as some of hte stuff I would listen to, I wouldn't accept now but the majority is actually very very good music, that I'll always keep.

Other fantastic artists include Talib Kweli, Kanye West, Common, Nas (after One Mic - I can't get over him ;) ), I can tolerate some 50 Cent songs but I feel he's become too mainstream (if we can call mainstream sex, drugs and revelling).

LONG LIVE UK ARTISTS: Kano, Dizzee Rascal, TheBandWithNoName - who says Christians can't rap?

rap nowadays isnt all that great

mainstream rap is what im talkin about

all they talk about is how high they get and how many hoes they can slap lol

i do like some rap though.. just a little though.. and mainly just when im bangin' it in the car

i listen to pretty much all the houston rappers.. fat pat, pimp c bun b, a little paul wall, hawk, etc

theres plenty other songs not from houston that are pretty tight too but i listen to those on a song by song basis

True...Rap these days isn't all that great and for the most part, it's still very much I've got the biggest chain, biggest house, girls with the nicest breast and bums you can imagine but there is some great rappers out there that are talking about real things. Of course every artist has a sense of prentention but when you have artists like:

Kanye West
Nas
Jay-Z
Lupe Fiasco
Talib Kweli

All have tunes which some would consider 'inappropriate' and that's true but the majority of their music is meaningful, deep. Kanye has a song called, Work Out Plan where he talks about training up girls to look good so they can go and marry the most eligible bachelor - that's not necessarily commendable but look at his album, Touch the Sky - 'the day you die you're gonna touch the sky'....or Roses where he describes his distaste at fans who can't see that his mother is suffering in hospital...This is rap - it's an outlet for the way someone feels....just like music in general.

So once you can weed your way through the trash...and it's not just rap that has alot of trash....look at pop...look at rock...look at a majority of mainstream genres and you'll find acts that just aren't real (for sake of a better word). Rap shouldn't take all the blame because there is good...no...great...secular rap music.

BTW...my tune of the moment..Jay-Z...SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT.....Hands up and Wave......

This site seriously needs to get a rap/hip hop section...it already has classical, jazz, and country, why no rap? You guys hate it that much, huh?
Yes, we're obviously posting in this thread because all of us hate rap

Actually its probably because the rest of the music genres you mentioned takes talent, and rap does not.

LOL! hahahahaha! Rap takes no talent? Alright, then if it that's easy, I want you to come out with a rap album and go platinum tomorrow. If it takes no talent, then anyone should be able to do it. Even you. I'll be checking tomorrow to see if you've done it, too.
