Rap can be tossed into the sea and drown for all I care. Eminem will be the only rap artist I'll indeed listen to, his songs and lyrics are funny. But... ROCK ALL THE WAY!!! Metal, Goth, Goth metal, death metal, doom metal alternate, punk, christian punk, chrstian metal, christian goth metal. Pop sucks expect Savage Garden.

I like both rap AND rock! I think both of them have their benefits. As you point out, rock is a much better genre for singing and getting good melodies out with nice riffs in the background. However, rap has a lot more potential for communicating a LOT of a message. Sometimes you get wonderful combinations of both like in Rage Against the Machine.

I actually don't believe in just one genre... I think all genres are appropriate at different times depending on the mood and purpose.
