I praise God that there are still men and women who will take that which is unlikable and transform them with their grace and love.

LOL. When you are just being so imperfect and God takes you by surprise with His grace because He sees the hidden treasure deep within...

That is so powerful in transforming a person into the image you want in a spouse/friend (or any other relationship), for real.

It's a mystery not everyone can unlock. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1 Corinthians 1:25.

May God help us pursue and imitate His foolishness and weakness that we may be wiser and stronger than the men of this world.

It was Christ’s holiness and actions in relation to His deity which caused offense. They weren’t disturbed by behavioral quirks that were an outgrowth of personality or difference. The same holds true for the prophets and others in the bible.

Sometimes a person lacks the attributes society esteems (beauty, intelligence, and wealth). It is one thing to acknowledge God’s providence in spite of its absence and another to make it a focal point.

Sometimes it might take you covering up your beauty, intelligence, and wealth with some mud on your hair, become poor and ugly. That's "unlikeable". But she is funny and cute in that way. It's her innocence, nothing malicious or any bad like worldly nor anything that is displeasing and dishonoring to God. She is just being careful of hiding her pearls in her own little ways that she can. She knows that a wise and serious man would see the beauty beyond her pain, sufferings, scars, weaknesses, lack, sickness, and imperfections. Someone who loves her despite. She knows that God is glorified and faithful in all that. You want to be loved for who you are, not just what you look like or have. It's not something that would keep you single. Of course, not everyone would find that funny and cute which is normal and okay. But God did coverup the precious jewels underneath the soil/mud and some people do get to own them.

As well as doing the woodworking classes at school, I was also in the lunchtime woodworking club working on my own personal projects. In my opinion it's a very pleasing material to work with, and objects made of varnished wood make for a nice home. I could envision myself taking up wood turning as a retirement hobby when I get old. The only downside is that hardwood dust is a carcinogen, so you need good dust management (or just stick to softwoods).

And here's one I just made up myself:

• #130 Volunteer at a heritage railway. The guys there will hardly believe their luck that a lovely lady wants to come and get dirty shovelling coal.

I prefer a sustainable project if possible. But I’m open to suggestions. I’d love to have a wood shop or she-shed for that purpose.

Sadly I haven't done much woodworking since school, unless you count models made of balsa. I do have a woodworking bench with a wood working vice, but it's covered with other stuff at the moment and sitting unused. I worked on a diverse range of projects at school, including a sleigh and a zoetrope machine. I never made any furniture. Achieving neat dovetail joints requires a lot of skill, and is the work of an experienced cabinet maker, or more likely these days a machine.

I managed without a studio but I’ve reached the point where I need one. I really like the townhouses with walled outdoor space. They’re plentiful in London.

LOL! Not really! I was too young and didn't get enough practice to be really good. School woodwork classes were only a few hours each week, and the lunchtime club didn't run everyday. My projects were OK for someone of my age, but not remarkable. But it's still satisfying to have something you made yourself.

I'm only really interested in turning. Furniture doesn't really appeal to me. But there's a myriad of possibilities for creating turned pieces, and also the possibility of selling them at craft fairs.

You might like this video. I think it's quite a good illustration of how a lathe can be used to create a turned piece, and she also includes the sketching of her plan for the piece. I was interested to see how she managed the dust problem. She wears a helmet that gently blows filtered air downwards over her face.

Yeah! Too many interests. Too little time. But I wouldn't pay to attend a school. There's so many instructional videos on YouTube there's no need, and I made a candlestick on the school lathe, so I know the basics.

That’s alright. Creating the piece provided an important life lesson on finishing what you’ve started. The end result wasn’t ‘beautiful’ but you had the ability to begin again. Expertise is birthed in repetition.

I rarely watch YouTube and I love taking classes. Paying for expertise shortens the learning curve. There’s lots of tips on the Internet but you need time to sort through them.

I like fascinators and wide brim hats. But they’re comfortable! Hard hats feel weird. I don’t care for them.

I've grown to enjoy it over the years. I generate a lot of ideas and it's important to bring them down to earth and validate them. If they're doable the next step is timing and planning follows.

I'm taking a thought and discerning how to use the content as a springboard for something greater. The goal is pointing them to God through the mundane in places they'd never see Him.

For instance, post 225 is overt. That's for a Christian. But 229 is ideal for both.

I can definitely resist Agatha, seeing as I don't have a TV to watch it on. As an aside, the BBC probably can't survive in its current state. Although they do produce some good content, their political bias has angered the government. And they are now so dreadfully earnest and right-on, they probably wouldn't make or rerun some of the shows they used to do. Recently they even managed to create a national row over the singing of a traditional song!

Assume you love to cook and have ten years under your belt. You get rave reviews from friends and family. That isn't comparable with going to culinary school. Everyone learns in different ways. I've completed two embedded software projects, and I have two others that are 90% complete. I learned everything by reading information online, posting questions on forums, and reading the 600 page manual for the microprocessor I was using. I made some mistakes, but I learned from those mistakes. I think formal classes are well suited to those looking to build a network of people with the same interest, or as you said, to speed up the learning. But not all types of projects can be taught to all people. For example, some projects require a certain way of thinking, high levels of manual dexterity, or excellent hand-eye coordination. Usually I'd rather have a go myself, than pay to find out I'm not very good at it.

I'd be happy to point out stylish alternatives.
