  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Today Tumblr taught me...

... but do male students outperform female students if taught by male teachers? Tumblr, feed me more information.
I know that this is a kinda old post but I wanted to point out that the school system (at least in the US) is very much tailored towards girls. I've studied this a bit and a number of a experts say that boys would do better with more male teachers (there aren't many!). Also, boys often have more energy than girls of the same age and would actually do a lot better not starting school until they're 6-8, because then they'd be able to actually focus. Much of the trouble kindergarten boys get into has to do with short attention spans. Also, boys learn better with lessons that require more activity, with more competitive challenges, and with more exciting books and problems.

So... while co-ed education is a great thing, for small children it often throws one gender under the bus. In this country, boys.

Rant over.
