Well, here goes.....this is just the first part. Please read with an open mind and consider the idea. Just sit back and humor me for the week.
As Peter points out, Pauls letters have been misused....abused....in the mouths of unlearned and unstable men. This is not a trivial, oh-by-the-way statement.
(2 Pet 3:16 KJV) As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
Men have taken his epistles and have done what they wanted with them. They have twisted and distorted Pauls gospel for the things they covet after..... other mens gold and silver and apparel These men are typified by Alexander the coppersmith in 2nd Timothy. They have taken Pauls words and hollowed them out without the spiritual Truth and remade their meanings after their own understanding. By doing so, they teach falsehoods with Pauls epistles and have done him much evil.
(2 Tim 4:14 KJV) Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
They have greatly withstood his words by misspeaking them in their wresting of them.
15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
But in this last day, the Lord will reveal the spiritual Truth in Pauls words....for it is Christ Jesus who speaks through Paul. The Lord will strengthen Pauls writings in the Truth....so that we might FULLY know what is being preached to us....so that we Gentiles might hear what is truly being said in Christ Jesus. The Lord comes to deliver Pauls writings out of the mouth of the lion.....out of the mouths and understanding of unlearned and unstable men who preach Paul in error for covetousness.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
The Lord shall deliver him from every evil work. Unstable men have misused Pauls letters for their evil works.
18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
They have misused them for imprisoning those of the church in false doctrines, commandments and traditions of men.....based on Pauls epistles. This was shown by example of the persecution of the Way unto the death by Saul in Acts. As Saul did these things, men also spiritually do them to the churches using Pauls letters. And here is the central point: it was Gods plan for this to happen.....He granted permission for his letters to be used this way.
(Acts 22:4 KJV) And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.
The letters that were received in authority from God in order to bind and deliver men and women into prisons are Pauls very own epistles.
5 As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.
They have, with Gods permission, used Pauls writings to make havoc of the church. They have entered into every house....every church....and committed many to prison....to doctrines, commandments and traditions of men that were hollowed out of his letters... they are likened to Alexander the coppersmith.
(Acts 8:3 KJV) As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
They are likened to Saul....which means to ask and comes from the word Sheol which means the grave.
(Acts 9:1 KJV) And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
Saul ASKED (desired) the high priest letters to bind those of the Way. It is Satan that had asked God for Pauls letters to use in order to haul the church into prison to test it. The messenger of Satan is a thorn in the flesh of Pauls writings. Unlearned and unstable men = Satans ministers who have authority to use the letters of Paul in order to test the church.
2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
If we look back in Job, we find this very same message. Satan asked for permission of God to try Job. Job means hated, persecuted.
(Job 2:3 KJV) And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
4 And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
Job is a veiled reference to Christ Jesus and his body. We, the church, are the body of Christ. All of the Scriptures are part of his body. Satan had asked permission from God to touch his bone and his flesh. This was permitted by God according to His plan.
5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.
6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.
And so Satan has taken Pauls letters with authority from God (and the rest of the Scriptures) and have wrest them with his own preachers who pose as ministers of righteousness in order to test the church. ....to sift it as wheat. The mouth of the lion has taken Paul and devoured those who have fallen victim to them. He has smote the body of Christ...the church... with sore boils....but our Lord is without sin.....even if we live in sin and are dead in trespasses.
7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
8 And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.
9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
We should not question God about this in our own wisdom as shown by Jobs response ...for it is His plan that this should happen to the Scriptures (his bone) and to the church (his flesh.) It is all for His good purpose...in order to display His glory through the revelation of the Truth....Christ Jesus at the appointed time. Foolish women = those unlearned and unstable men who know not what they speak...those who lean upon their own wisdom.
10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh.
What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
This is why Paul would only glory in the time being of his infirmities because he knew by his own personal, earthly experience of trials and tribulations what was spiritually in store for his writings in the mouths of the ministers of Satan.....in the mouth of the lion....that would be used to imprison the church. He did not protest this but gloried in his weakness knowing that Christ would come and rescue his writings from the mouth of the lion. As Jesus stated, he would show him how great things he must suffer for his names sake. It didnt just end with Pauls departure from this earth but carried on spiritually through his writings.
(Acts 9:16 KJV) For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
He acknowledged he was going bound in the Spirit unto Jerusalem.
(Acts 20:22 KJV) And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
The Holy Spirit had witnessed and spoke about this to Paul.....by his own personal trials, tribulations, bonds while he lived in this world. He knew, by example of his own life, what would come after him...what his own writings would endure...that they would be misused by unlearned men to deceive. His written words would suffer bonds and afflictions. They would be used by fleshly men to imprison the church.
23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
And yet none of these things moved him.
24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Paul prophesied through the Spirit that we, the church, would not see his face any more....for the lion was coming to devour his writings. The wolves were coming after his departure. In other words, we would not see the spiritual Truth in Pauls words because of the wresting and distortions of unlearned and unstable men. Only in the mind of Christ Jesus can we understand Paul correctly.
25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
And he states for the record, that he is pure from the blood of all men. Pauls writings are pure in Truth....he has not concealed them but has written them as revealed by Christ Jesus. He has not purposely wrote to harm us in any way. His writings are 100% pure and noble. It is Satan and his ministers who have used his words (Paul's weakness....his infirmities) in order to place the church in bondage and tribulations.
26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
And when we are awakened to the Truth in Paul, we understand this statement in 2 Corinthians. His letter made us sorry for a season. That season is the season that Satan and his ministers have devoured the church and put it into prison. The church has experienced trials and tribulations at the preaching of ungodly men....the wolves who spare not the flock.
(2 Cor 7:8 KJV) For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
But the same letter that has brought the church sorrow also brings repentance when the Lord Jesus Christ opens up our understanding of Paul. Pauls gospel is to the awakening church in this last day.
9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.
When it is understood how we have badly treated Pauls letters, it produces godly sorrow.....which works repentance to salvation. The misusing of his writings had previously caused the sorrow of the world which worked death.
10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
As Paul shows us spiritually, by the example of his own life, it is man who thought with himself to interpret Pauls writings. Man in his own wisdom has taught many things with Pauls epistles that are contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
(Acts 26:9 KJV) I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
Satan had received authority from God to strike Job with sore boils. Satan had received authority to sift Peter as wheat. Satan had received authority to take Pauls letters and wrest them in order to imprison and test the church....to sift it as wheat. Only Jesus is without sin....we have all sinned. We have missed the mark of the Truth of God.
10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.
Satan and his ministers, who distort Paul, have compelled many in the church..... every synagogue.... to blaspheme. But all blasphemy against the Son of man is forgiven. Christ Jesus is the only one without sin.....as Job.
11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.
12 Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,
continued in next post.....
