This is actually very good for your back. It keeps your spine straight, thus preventing lower back pain. To keep your spine straight when you do use a pillow, you need to sleep with a pillow under your knees as well (this is what I do).

Yeah, I heard this too! I actually used to have this weird lump on my neck because of a mild case of scoliosis I had. Sleeping without a pillow helped straighten out my spine while I grew into it.

Yes, it's true. I really think that's probably what helped your neck. I always had terrible lower back pain growing up, and then I began sleeping with a pillow under my knees and within 2 days my pain was completely gone.
