When I was younger and my voice was smoother I sang alto in a quartet ... we did Be Thou My Vision acapella ... the celtic version, I think. It was our most requested song. I still have it memorized. I've also sung it solo. I don't sing much anymore ... except in the shower when I'm by myself

Its a beautiful song! I bet it sounded wonderful. I learned it on my mandolin but it is pretty basic. I wanted to really make it pretty and I am not that good on it yet.

Well, I still have it. But I just got busy, and didn't keep it up. It was damaged in the fire in 2002, and my cousin refinished it for me. I basically only played 3 chords, but it was enough to entertain myself! I will pick it back up one day.

lol!!! yeppers!!! Those are the ones I know!!! With my 'cheater' I can play anything I want to play!!!

I love those cheaters, easier on your fingers, but I do play the barre chords too.

My son wants to play the bass guitar ... we haven't conviced hubby/dad yet.

I would encourage it. The gift of music. Something once learned you can never take away. My whole family plays. My husband plays bass. Hey its easier! Only 4 strings!

My son is very gifted musically. He's played the clarinet, bass clarinet, Berisax and now the Tuba in band. He's done all that without practicing much. I expect the bass guitar would be TOO easy for him and that's why my husband hesitates. He doesn't want to go to the expense if the boy will just get bored with it in a few months.

I would really like him to do piano because it would be more of a challenge, but he has no interest as of yet.

Yeah I can see him not being interested in piano. Thats not as cool Mom! I would encourage the bass interest,I dont think he would get bored with it.

My son played tuba in Jr high and high school. He gave it up his senior year. Football won out!!

yeah ... my son thinks he wants to play football. *sigh* ... well if you see yolih around nag him about the bass guitar for me. Yolih is my hubby. He doesn't listen to me cuz that's just not macho

My son didn't play football in Jr High. He started his freshman year. He played all through high school, but didn't want to play for college.
