  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I noticed on your profile Tattered you had "Be thou my vision" as your fav song. I like that too! Its beautiful. I really like the celtic version.
When I was younger and my voice was smoother I sang alto in a quartet ... we did Be Thou My Vision acapella ... the celtic version, I think. It was our most requested song. I still have it memorized. I've also sung it solo. I don't sing much anymore ... except in the shower when I'm by myself ^_^

Well I am trying to LEARN to play mandolin. I do play guitar.

(Why did you quit playing guitar?)

Well, I still have it. But I just got busy, and didn't keep it up. It was damaged in the fire in 2002, and my cousin refinished it for me. I basically only played 3 chords, but it was enough to entertain myself! I will pick it back up one day.

My son is very gifted musically. He's played the clarinet, bass clarinet, Berisax and now the Tuba in band. He's done all that without practicing much. I expect the bass guitar would be TOO easy for him and that's why my husband hesitates. He doesn't want to go to the expense if the boy will just get bored with it in a few months.

I would really like him to do piano because it would be more of a challenge, but he has no interest as of yet.
