How amny weeks is bootcamp now? If I remember we went to 9weeks of training before getting off for a week at home, then school. What they didn't tell us was that if we went streight home from boot we had a whole year before we had enough time to go home again.

Her basic is 9 weeks, then 16 weeks for her AIT training (tech school) I don't know if she will get to come home between basic and tech school or not. I do remember when my first ex went into the AF, he had about 2 weeks from the time he finished to get to the base. We drove from Louisiana to Hampton Virgina in a Mustang!!

There was a park called Dominion something or other in Norfolk, and then Busch Gardens is in Williamsburg, along with Colonial Williamsburg. That was about 15 minutes down the road from where we lived. When were you there? We were there from February 1979 til December 1980.

I think the one I was thinking of was dominion...., I went to bush gardens several times. I was there from spring of 75 to around late fall of 78
The worse part of going from the east coast to the west coast for a desert rat was I thought the ocean was warm everywhere. What a suprise when I went to San Diego and hit the water.

I went to the Med 3 times, the carabean, once, the N. Atlantic once. that is the advantage of the navy over any other branch of the service. Hard to beat the travel. I managed to go 1/2 way around the world 3 times all together. The only place I never got was to S. America. But I did go through the Panama canal.

My dad was in the Navy when he met my mom. She was a Marine, and he was a corpsman stationed at her base!! (Cherry Point) He tells people that he fell off the bus in San Diego, he leaned into the wind, and there wasn't any!!! (he's from Oklahoma!)

WOW, we could have seen each other and never have known. But I spent almost all of my time ther on the farm, not the city, that was where my G-mom lived.
I went to a one room school house, and really did have to walk about 5 miles to school after milking the cows and slopping the hogs, etc.
