Really?

Care to retract what you said. Or how about this one?

Those posts, and especially mine are in response to how people would want to define a fetus as a full human being with full rights.

Making abortion illegal doesn't necessarily grant a fetus equal protection and full rights, it just simply says women aren't allowed full sovereignty over their own bodies.

So no retraction is required, my post was in regards to a specific scenario, one that is championed by many pro lifers. It doesn't conflict with what I stated above, which applies to a more broader view of banning abortions.

Possible negligence isn't evidence. Negligence is

Which you cannot determine without a criminal investigation of the suspect-- er, I mean "woman."

I'm sorry Garfield, I'm really tired and not seeing anything in your links about leftist groups calling for abortion. I see some speculation about it but that is about it. I'll review these when I am not so rummy. If you know specifically were it is mentioned and could point it out it would be a great help.

That's the topic of this discussion

The same way you do when a 40 year old man drops dead in the parking lot of a shopping center.

Great, so therefore no abortions will be investigated, and whoever wants to undergo an abortion will still be able to anyway.

Sorry, but that doesn't follow. An abortion requires outside interference with the pregnancy.

And if she has an abortion, and there's no investigation to follow up, how would anyone know the difference?

She could go to some underground abortion provider, get it done, claim she had a miscarriage and that's the end of it without an investigation.

She could possibly get away with it. We've had that experience before in this country an abortionists were duly charged when caught. Yet not every miscarriage in those days was investigated as a homicide

Ok, and what happens if she self administers the abortion at home? A quick google search can provide you with ways to do it.

What would give you cause to call for an investigation in that case?

Because you've provided very few details on the case. Based on what you've told me, she could very well have probable cause. Further evidence will make it more clear either way.

You first have to have a reason to suspect the woman

There are lots of reasons. If she ate a fennel salad recently. Or drank a few cups of penny royal tea. Or was seen eating/imbibing any of the many natural abortifacients that are out there.

Or if a healthy woman who has had multiple previous pregnancies without any complications has a miscarriage just after her husband, the sole breadwinner, was laid off. Was it due to stress, or did she do it on purpose to avoid the extra expenses on a reduced income? Definitely got a motive, there.
