You're excusing her racism because of things that happened to other black people in the past.

I'm just asking if you do the same for every ethnic/racial group? Can jews be racist or does the holocaust mean they can say whatever racist things they want?

Don’t be silly.

I agree it sounds silly...

Tell me again why the girl in the OP isn't racist?

You can tell me what she said or did that is racist, and answer the other question. That’ll get you closer to finding an answer for yourself.

How could that possibly be off topic?

Because this thread has nothing to do with slavery. You made a false claim that I somehow "denied" the effects of slavery, and now you're grasping at straws to justify it.

Not denied, you’re avoiding the whole topic altogether. How can the issue of racism in the US possibly have nothing to do with the history of the US? That makes no sense.

She said there's "too many white people here" effectively asking them to leave....then she celebrated when they did.

This thread has nothing to do with "the history of the US"....it's about the racist behavior of one black female student.

And we’re back to the beginning...The whole history of colonialism is rooted in the idea that white Europeans have the right to take whatever they want from other ethnic groups, and to use or dispose of those other groups however they see fit. To say that has nothing to do with racism is like saying that the rain has nothing to do with plants growing.

She points out that one culture is over-represented in what is a multi-cultural meeting - that’s your idea of racism? You’re expressing some concern about racism and you can’t think of a more egregious example than that?

Definition of racism | Dictionary.com

Nothing in there about colonialism. One need not understand colonialism to understand racism...and that's because they're completely different concepts. There's plenty of people who are racist and haven't colonized anyone.

1. It's not a meeting...it's just a lounge/common space for students.
2. She says nothing about any particular culture...she singles people out based on skin color alone.
3. What in the world do you mean by "over-represented"? What is the "proper" amount of representation?

You’re expressing some concern about racism and you can’t think of a more egregious example than that?

It's the only example of racism in the article.

From your dictionary definition, this I presume you think has nothing to do with colonialism?

‘...usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to dominate others or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others’

What do you call it when a Korean person is racist against someone? How about a Swedish person? How can you possibly tell the ethnic origins of someone and know their entire cultural history to determine who they are capable of being racist against? That doesn't make any sense at all.

Everyone is capable of being racist against anyone.

And?

There are differences between racism as an abstract notion and racism in application.

What's abstract about a Korean being racist towards a non-Korean? You realize that happens, right?

Here, in case you weren't aware....

Racism in South Korea - Wikipedia

An increase in immigration to South Koreasince the 2000s catalyzed more overt expressions of racism, as well as criticism of those expressions.[1][3] Newspapers have frequently reported on and criticized discrimination against immigrants, in forms such as being paid lower than the minimum wage, having their wages withheld, unsafe work conditions, physical abuse, or general denigration.[1]

In a 2010–2014 World Values Survey, 44.2% of South Koreans reported they would not want a foreigner as a neighbor.

What do you call that if not racism? Obviously it's not connected in any way to European colonialism.
