no, this family doesn't listen to music at all.
do you think it is weird that my family doesn't listen to any music? if so what bothers you about this decision by my parents?
Before I answer that question, I must firstly say that I am not trying to attack you or your parents or their decision - so if I come across that way, sorry! I am sure there is a good reason and I respect that.
Okay, now to answer the question - yes I do think it's "weird". Well, unusual, strange, whatever. What bothers me about it is that I genuinely believe God gave us the fantastic gift of music for our own enjoyment, for edifying each other, and for His glory. I don't know why your parents don't have music in your family - if it's because they personally don't like it, that's one thing, but if it's because they have anything theologically against it - well that would bother me because I would strongly disagree. I have known people who, while not against music altogether, are against any form of electrified instrument and, worse, any form of synchopated rhythm - and quite frankly I think these people's reasoning for this is wrong and unBiblical.
Again I say I respect your family's beliefs and must apologise if I come across as rude or judgemental!
I guess I also see music as an important part of life - I do believe it can sharpen the mind and be a great source of relaxation and enjoyment, which I do think is important.
And of course, probably the biggest reason why it "bothers" me is just a personal one - it's such a massive part of my life that I can't imagine life with no music of any sort. It frightens me! It's why I fear deafness more than most other physical deficiency.
Anyway, sorry about that long answer there.
Next question! What's your favourite spread to put on toast?
