You have the best taste in Subway ever - only change the bread to Italian Herbs and Cheese.

I have not had my wisdom teeth out but had I heeded the advice of the dentist I would have nearly a year ago. They just haven't been giving me any trouble lately (like they had been) but I will most likely get them out in the near future.

I did just have a filling a week or so ago. I bit a fork and lost a chunk of tooth and couldn't eat or drink without pain.

Do/did you have braces?

lol! thanks :D i love my subway!:yum:

nope, never had braces... never needed them. i' really lucky that my teeth are pretty much straight. that's why i'm nervous about my wisdom teeth. aside from the amazing amount of pain that they are causing... i really don't want my teeth to be pushed out of place coz i don't want to EVER have braces. my teeth moving/getting braces would probably stuff me up for my sax playing as well, so it's something that i'm really trying to avoid.

what sort of mobile phone do you own?

I've always been told I have a "perfect set of teeth" - but my wisdom teeth grow sideways or something... hrm...

I don't have a mobile phone. I kind of "share" one with my sister - that is, I take that one with me whenever I go on a long trip or something, but I never use it other than that.

I love the saxaphone, wish I could play.

How long have you played sax?

I have played the sax for all of 0seconds... i've never tried playing it cause it's got a reed. Never tried peoples instruments that induces saliva all over a piece of woody stuff to play it. i tried playing someones trombone in stage band once. that was fun!!! hahahaha

what is your favourite instrument?

Whoops, I shouldn't have asked such a specific question directed at one person.

My favourite instrument is the piano. My favourite object of any description is the piano. I couldn't live without my piano!

What is yours?

i've been playing alto sax for 9&1/2 years :D
i played bari sax for 3 years but it belonged to my school so i had to leave it there when i graduated  unfortunately i don't have a spare $10,000 lying around (the closest i've come to owning a bari is in my armor here. lol!) so i'll just have to stick to my alto for now. i LOVE my alto, his name is Artie ^_^

ROFL!!!! yeah, reeds are kinda gross to share hey? though that's never really stopped me from trying out all the different instruments that i can get my hands on...:sorry: actually, swapping instruments was one of our favourite past times when i was in band at school. everyone always wanted to try my bari sax coz it was so big

come to think of it, i'm probably lucky that i didn't glandular fever or something of the sort! *phew* hehehe...

well, my favourite instrument to PLAY is definately the baritone sax (lol, i must sound obsessed or something... oh, that's right... I AM! lol!)
my favourite instrument to compose for is violin/string quartet because it's so versitile.
my favourite instrument to listen to...hmmm... really depends on who's playing it... GAH!!! it's way to hard to pick a favourite instrument... they all sound GREAT when played properly

ok, how bout i tell you what my least favourite instrument is... THE ORGAN!

ok, i have 2 questions this time... is that allowed? i'm doing it anyway...

what is your least favourite instrument?
have you ever played a 'thong-a-phone'? (they used to have one in the science centre here in brizzy... it ROCKED!!!)

EDIT: PS. Daniel - how long have you played piano?

Bagpipes - though even they can be tolerable in the right context. I'm not a fan of the organ, but in the right context it can be quite majestic.

Never heard of one... it sounds odd.

A little over 14 years now.

I primarily play piano but have taught myself guitar. I'm no lead guitarist but can play pretty much anything if it's just chords. I can play bass but don't often enough to get decent at it. I can keep a beat on the drums but again don't often enough to be able to consider myself able to "play" them.

I played violin for one term many years ago, and I don't think I'd be able to play it if I tried again.

Who is your favourite classical composer?

SHOSTAKOVICH!!!!!!
he is amazing!!! his string quartet no. 8 makes me cry every time!

thongaphone.jpg

here's 2 different thongaphones. they're basically just a bunch of pvc pipes cut at different lengths to get a range of notes. to play them you hit the top of the pipe with a thong! they sound pretty cool!!! they're generally set out like a piano (in terms of the positioning of black and white keys). i rekon i'm going to have to compose a piece for string quartet and thongaphone or something like that!! ROFL!!! my teacher would probably strangle me just for suggesting it!!! lol:D

can i answer this one too? please???

i play sax (soprano, alto, tennor and bari), and a little pit of piano, guitar and clarinet
although, give me an instrument and i can probably make a sound...lol!

what is your favourite style of music?

Thanks for the thongaphone pics. Very interesting!

The very little I have heard of Shostakovich (one or two of his symphonies) hasn't impressed me all that much, but I would definitely be open to hearing more.

Miss_Music said:

Classical (more specifically, music from the Classical and early Romantic periods - but any "classical" is great), but apart from classical... alternative rock (Muse, Radiohead, Silverchair, Keane), Classic Rock (Beatles, Supertramp, Led Zeppelin, Badfinger..... etc.) and I'm recently getting into jazz for the first time. This is due largely to the a capella vocal jazz group The Idea of North, one of my favourite bands. But I love jazz piano and jazz bands... and regret my very limited experience and knowledge of them!

Who is your favourite contemporary group/artist?

man! that's a loaded question! i'll try my best to cut my answer down to a few bands.

christian contemporary - OC Supertones, day of fire (at the moment anyway, i tend to change my mind a lot :))
secular - simple plan, switchfoot
jazz - michael buble, big bad voodoo daddy, every man and his llama, scat
classical - the kronos string quartet (i know you said contemporary but in terms of classical groups, these guys are contemporary!)

Daniel - if you're looking for a good jazz group, try 'Big Bad Voodoo Daddy'. they're a new york big band. they rock!!! for christian jazz, check out 'scat'. they're brisbane based, so depending on where you are you might not be able to get a hold of any of their stuff.

ok, now for a complete change of subject...
do you watch lost?

I've had Scat highly recommended to me by two fellows (whose musical tastes I put great faith in) who attended the AGMF. I am keen to check them out when I visit one in two weeks. I will keep my eyes peeled for BBVD.

I've never heard of Lost - I'm gathering it's a TV show? I don't watch much TV other than movies and sport.

What is your favourite sport?
