Hey all, I would read the Bible but I have an extremely hard time reading things, not because I can’t read but I have a bad attention span, but I have a few questions, How does the antichrist gain power? I know this probably sounds like a dumb question but does he lose power also or only when he is defeated? And which of the four beasts is the antichrist?

The antichrist (also known as the false prophet) really does not have power. His function is to bring worship to the king of the north/man of sin/beast from the sea. He does this by counterfeit miracles.

So the antichrist/false prophet is the prophet for the king of the north. The king of the north/beast is the one who sets himself in the Temple claiming to be God. Who makes war aganist God and God's people.

How does the antichrist gain power?
John speaks of >

"the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and is now already in the world." (in 1 John 4:3)

So, already the spirit of Antichrist is in this world. How will Antichrist come into power, then? I would say by means of Satan's evil spirit >

"the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience." (in Ephesians 2:2)

So, this evil spirit actually "works" in people to get people to disobey God. There is Satanic thinking and wrong feelings and evil emotions and ways of reacting which work a person to disobey God. Lusts for pleasure work very hard.

But Jesus gives us "rest for your souls" (in Matthew 11:29). But the Antichrist spirit works in many ways to keep a person from obeying Jesus in His peace.

One way to keep people weak and away from Jesus is to keep our attention busy with what is happening in this evil world's kingdom . . . instead of staying attentive to obeying our Father in His own peace, as every child of God is expected to do >

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

Complaining and arguing work very hard to keep people from being "thankful". And they are degraded and made weak by their arguing and complaining, so they stay weak so Satan can keep on controling them in various ways.

Satan is called >

"You who weakened the nations!" (in Isaiah 14:12)

You can see how so many are busy and weak in their keeping track of knowing all the good and evil of this world. And they are arguing. And ones are now complaining about how their bodies are not looking attractive like they want, or their bodies are not the gender they dictate they should have.

Their arguing and complaining started with other things, but sins add up to break people down to more and more trouble. There can be a little complaining in a marriage, instead of loving the way Jesus has us loving. And then someone not in God's love can be degraded to adultery and other trouble. Little things add up in their spiritual effect.

Adultery, divorce, abortion, and false sexuality are end-products, then, of not being thankful, of complaining, of attention being in the wrong place.

Satan has his conspiracy to keep people's attention tangled up with conspiracies, worrying about having control for what they want. But Jesus is already Lord in control of all - - - for all which God is committed to doing > Romans 8:29, Colossians 1:28-29 < which is not the focus of worldly people and their attention!!

And the best way of being ruled by Jesus is by staying submissive to God in the ruling of His peace in our hearts > and >

"casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)

So, I would say that the Antichrist is getting into power by keeping people's attention away from being thankful and from obeying God in His peace. And their arguing keeps people from sharing as God's family. Their arguing and complaining helps to isolate them from one another in weakness so they can give in to more and more Satanic stuff (2 Timothy 3:13).

But if we trust God and obey how Philippians 4:6 says to pray, then >

"the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7)

And in this peace of God rulimg our minds we have our Father guiding our attention and our trusting reliably. And our focus is with God, and therefore ministering for us to be perfected in Jesus (Colossians 1:28-29) and His character (Romans 8:29) with His way of loving (Ephesians 5:2).

But worldly people are busy with their own controling, and how they are knowing so they can curse people with their suspicion, instead of blessing and being strong in love. And so the Antichrist already has power over such people!

You can read more about it on wikipedia: Nero - Wikipedia
And which of the four beasts is the antichrist?
The four beasts of Daniel (if you mean those) are the main 4 world empires till Christ came (Babylonia, Assyria, Greece, Rome).

The historical/biblically predicted Antichrist was the part of the Roman Empire, i.e. of the 4th beast.

But generally speaking, the term "antichrist" can be also used for anyone who is trying to suppress the Christian teaching, so you can call Hitler, Stalin etc. antichrists too. For example reformers called the catholic popes antichrists, because they were trying to suppress the discovered biblical truths.

This is not going to be satisfying, but the answer is that there isn't even a clear indication that there will be a future and final antichrist. The only time we read the word "antichrist" in the Bible is found in 1 and 2 John, and never refers to a single individual who will appear "in the end times". Instead antichrist is spoken of more generally, and specifically as there being "many antichrists" referring to certain heretics of the time. The antichrists St. John mentions in his letters are a reference to early Docetists and Cerinthians, proto-Gnostic heretical movements which denied that Jesus was truly human.

Docetism comes from the Greek verb dokeo meaning "to seem", as in the Docetists said that Jesus only "seemed" to be human, but was in fact a purely spiritual being without flesh, and thus His suffering on the cross wasn't real. Cerinthianism is named for its chief proponent, Cerinthus, who taught that Jesus was a normal human being who became possessed by "the Christ" between Jesus' baptism at the river Jordan and Jesus' death on the cross.

There has never been a clear and consistent teaching about the antichrist in Christianity, but rather many ideas and many opinions. Over the past two thousand years many ideas and speculations have been presented, and so the legend of antichrist grew with time--but even still, there's never been a consensus in official Christian teaching. So any attempt to speak of how "the antichrist" (if there will be one at all) will come to power will only be speculation based upon questionable interpretations of certain passages of Scripture.

Concerning about the four beasts, I assume this refers to those in the book of Daniel? These are a series of kingdoms, though opinions on identifying these are split among biblical scholars and exegetes. One interpretation holds that these are the Babylonians, Medo-Persians, Greeks, and Romans. Others (and this is the view I lean toward) say that the kingdoms are Babylon, Medes, Persians, and the Greeks (the ten toes referring to the Diadochi, the successor states to Alexander the Great's Empire). I also hold to the view that the king of the north refers to Antiochus IV of the Seleucid Empire (one of the Greek successor states) while the king of the south refers to the Ptolemies. The Syrian Wars were a series of conflicts fought between the Seleucids of Syria and the Ptolemies of Egypt, with often saw Judah caught in the middle, eventually under Antiochus IV the Seleucids conquered Judah from the Ptolemies, and then imposed forced Hellenization upon the Jews, forbidding the Jews from practicing their religion and even installing an image of Zeus to the Jewish Temple and having a pig sacrificed in the Holy of Holies--an "abomination that causes desolation" as we read in Daniel. Much of these things can be read in the book of 1 Maccabees.

Daniel 11:21 (KJV)
And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they
shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come
in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

He will not be voted in to his position.

Daniel 8:24 (KJV)
And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power:
and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and
practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

The devil gives him his power

I would highly recommend this series Salvation in Symbols & Signs- Link below

It’s a bible study that takes you chapter by chapter of the book of Revelation and is the best bible study on this book I have ever watched. I recommend having your bible out while going through the Bible studies. It’s long but each episode is about 28 minutes and after Revelation they go right in the book of Daniel which works in harmony with Revelation. If you have some time check it out, its excellent. You will learn everything you need to know about the beast, anti-Christ, 666 but more importantly the book is about the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZE9r6f37K0AJPuImVU9DX-Y1Ntikqv0R

I started just watching a few of the episodes on the topics I was most interested in, but had to back up to the beginning because it was so good and realized how much I was missing from previous bible studies on the book of Revelation. I understand the overview, but this really fills in the details.

Satan is the anti-Christ. While Satan is apposed to Christ, the teaching concerning him is revealed even in the Greek word " anti ". In a more compete context means, "instead of Christ" first comes Satan claiming to be. 666 Comes before 777. He gains power one hour with the beast ( the one world order ), when God releases him. Removed from heaven, and cast to the earth. Revelation 12 towards the end of the chapter.

There are only two "beasts" mentioned concerning anti-Christ. Not four.

There are four living" creatures", called "beasts" in Revelation, but they have nothing to do with anti-Christ. Those four are protectors aka cherubs , or special people better said, that are protectors of Gods throne. They would be better called The Zoa.

So the two beast are symbolic for one world government.
The second beast is Satan himself, as anti Christ, a false Christ. The false prophet. Revelation 13 kjv.

The Dragon. etc. 2 Thessalians 2. He speaks as the Dragon, because he is, The Dragon, Satan. Read Matthew 24 kjv.

There wont be a human. There will be thee man, Satan in person. Performing supernatural signs to seduce if it were possible even The Elect. And yes the whole world.

Further to what @ViaCrucis said, I myself believe the theory that the Beast was the Emperor Nero, because transliterated into Hebrew letters*, which have associated numerical values, like Roman numerals, 666 adds up to NRON QSR, which would have been a common abbreviation for Nero Caesar.

By the way, if you have difficulty reading but want to hear the Bible, the noted British actor and devout Anglican Christian has recorded the entire NIV, including the Gospel of Mark at a public reading at St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Gospel of John at Westminster Abbey, and these have all been uploaded onto YouTube, where you can listen for free. Also, while this again is an Anglican thing, the BBC records beautiful vespers services called Choral Evensong a few times a week and publishes them online, and at present they can be freely listened to anywhere. There are also a ton of vintage recordings on YouTube. Each service of Choral Evensong has three Psalms, which are sung, two canticles from Luke 1, the Magnificat and Nunc Dimitis, which are also sung, and two scripture lessons, which are read in a clear and easy to understand voice, one from the Old Testament and one from the New.

*actually Imperial Neo-Aramaic letters; before the Babylonian Captivity Hebrew was written with a very different looking alphabet which is still in use in modified form by the Samaritans)

...as does the number 616 (NRO QSR), which shows up in some manuscripts and places.
