  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It says that on the first day god created light, then a few days later he created the sun.

How could light exist without the sun? Did he make a temporary light manifest from nothing until construction on the sun could be completed on the fourth day?

You don't have to take Genesis 1 as chronologically literal.

On day one, God creates the realms of light and darkness. On day two, God creates the realms of water and sky. On day three, God creates the realm of dry land.

Then on day four, God lets the realm of light and darkness give forth rulers- sun, moon, and stars. Then on day five, God lets the realms of water and sky give forth their rulers- birds and fish. Then last, on day six, God lets the dry land give forth its rulers- land animals and humanity.

See? It's a framework, designed to show that God created the world in an orderly manner. It's not meant to be taken as a literal, historical, scientific account of creation. It's meant to demonstrate that God is a God of order, and that the universe is his purposeful creation and not some chaotic mistake.

To me, that warrants a hallelujah more than a literal six-day account. It also seems to flow with other Christian truths better than interpreting the six days literally, as well.

some people believe that the Light is order from out of the Chaos.

If you look he doesnt say he created them on that day he said "let them appear" now if you are taking a scientific veiwpoint - the formation of the earth was a violent prosses - and much of the sky would have been clouded with ash, water vapour and the like from God basicly forging the earth into what he wanted it to be.

NLT - Genesis 1

14 Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them mark off the seasons, days, and years.

The sun moon and stars probably were not visible to someone on earth until that "day".

love learning new things about God
seems the LIGHT OF THE GOSPEL
was always as Christ was is and will be .. just hidden till now

GOD has always been the Spirit and truth and its the Light of this world ... and judgments in the earth .... the purpose of the Sun is maybe this

Rev 16:8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon **TO SHINE IN IT ** for the glory of GOD did lighten it, and **the Lamb [is] the light** thereof.

Rev 22:5 And there shall be no night there;

and they need no candle, neither light of the sun;

for the Lord God giveth **them light**: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

seems to me all this was ...and is now ,,and present and future ALL things are ALWAYS ..

peace ...C ...

Because the sun is not required for light to exist. For example a light-bulb gives off light and is not the sun.
