Is it wrong to want something good to happen , to want to incredibily blessed for no other reason than you need to know God is there? to know that He loves you and has a plan for you and hasn't forgotten you? or is that testing God?

The first passage that comes to mind is this:

John 20:24-29
24 Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord."
So he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."
26And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!" 27Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing."
28And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"
29Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."​

Christ provided a sign for Thomas, but He states that it is better that we do not need a sign.

well then I need a sign. Does that mean i'm a horrible person? Does that mean that God isn't pleased with me? Is it wrong to ask to be blessed? I'm feeling despreate to know that God is there. I need to know that He cares. I know he loves me in my head, I need to know it in my heart.

I don't know.... that God is good, and that I'm not just a faceless, nameless part of the crowd, that God hasn't forgoten about me, that He isn't ignoring me, that He sees and hears me, that my life matters at all

I know this seems so selfish and I feel embaressed for even asking. I've had a lot of bad things happen lately and I feel beat up and run down, and I guess I need some tangible renewal from God. So I can saw "wow this is from God." I sound stupid and selfish I know. Faith should be enough, but mine has been badly damaged lately. I'm doubting and it scares me and I want to STOP.

So get on yours knees, pray, and then pray some more. Yell and scream at God. Fight with Him. It will make your faith stronger.

Also remember to listen, God does not always answer in the way we hope or expect. Sometimes no answer is a answer!

Hey Mina, I don't think wanting a blessing is a horrible thing for you to do, we all need reassurance of some kind at some point. I know when I was low and my faith was wavering, I just gave it to God straight, told him exactly how I felt and left nothing out, I believe we have to be so honest with God, if you tell him how you feel, I think he will bless your honesty and give you some encouragement.

I also read alot of Hebrews, reading about the great man and women of faith, really encouraged me, and spurred me on.

Do something Good for God. Give Him honor and glory. help someone in need. sing for Him in a Church service, from your heart. you wonder if your life has meaning? Hows your ministry. God gave you life, air to breathe, the ability to laugh, smile, make friends. And What have you done for Him? all God needs if for you to have a grain of faith in the darkest moments. and God, being the God of wonderful gifts will bless you 7 times more than how you blessed Him. So if you are in a storm right now. and everything is troublesome, praise God from the bottom of your heart. Here is where God can glorify Himself in your life. Not only will your faith be a wonderful fragrance, he will Lift you out of your storms, and bless you until the point you would say "wow God, what did i do that You have blessed me so?" But God doesn't like sitting still,if He blesses you, its for a purpose. He doesn't bless for no reason. God doesn't play favorites. If theres a need He will provide. And there is always a need. Therefore God will always provide. If you are in despair, than it means that God has blessed you, but the Enemy is trying to block your view. That is why we need to praise God, even though we "think" God doesn't deserve your praise, but Praise Him anyways. Because praise is the beginning of break through and the beginning of a shower of blessings for you and you current situation.

Mina - try worshipping Him even though you feel you don't have enough faith. It might change your attitude. Right after my little dog died I praised the Lord from my knees and through my tears. He pulled me close and comforted me. He has NEVER let me down when I have asked comfort of him. That's the blessing I love most!

Just know that life is more then a feeling, most often your heart will let you down (stand on His word and His promise to always be there; Run it through your head and remember it). But, like with many people in the Bible, God is the Master at meeting people at there point of need. If this is your point of need, tell God it is and ask Him to meet you at it... This may seem strange to some but I have had the same need as Mina and needed an answer from God regarding a personal blessing.
One day after a long day at work I had a long drive home (60 miles). Coming up on my first traffic light I said (just off hand to myself, as I was in the car alone) "Dear Lord, Please have all these lights be green today". Then a voice seemed to say, "Do you think that He cares about you and these lights"? "What about all the other drivers that have had a long day at work and need to get home?"
Now as sure as I am typing this, another voice seemed to say "Just watch!"
Now I'm not on prozac nor am I taking any mind altering drugs, but from that first light through more than 25 more they were all green on my side of the road. Every time I think of this I am near tears with chills when My Lord proved that He cares about the "little things" as well as the big things in my life.
Mina, I'm sure that God wants to bless you in many ways, Just watch.

Blessings is not the only way he let's us know he is there and that he cares for us and that he loves us. He is with us when we suffer as well, where do you think the strength comes from to endure?

Hello TL;

I had a similar situation only on my way home after a 14 hour day I asked why is life so hard. My body ached and was not looking forward to the next day to have to get up and do it again. A voice silently said "Take a deep breath and exhale". When I did I heard again "Did that hurt"? To which I thought, It did not.
Then He said "As I hung on the cross for your sin evey breath I drew was painful unto fainting. I was up 24 hours enduring 3 rounds of various beatings and mocking, yet I did it for you".
My shirt was wet with tears and my heart was comforted beyond any time I've ever remember when God had to comfort any need of mine.
