  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

kay, umm, i know I'm not married, lol, im only 14, but still, i have a question. How many of you (if any) stayed pure until marriage? Why am I asking this? Well, no, I'm not planning on hooking up with a guy to have sex or anything, no way, im just wondering because, well, i don't know, maybe encouragment? No one waits anymore, its sad, but like, I would like to know if just maybe ONE person waited untill marriage, that would be reeeaaal great to hear right now.

In my experience, not waiting is a HUGE and heartbreaking mistake. I was in a relationship in my early twenties and I was sleeping with my boyfriend. I can't even express how much I regret that decision. I am now married and my husband and I waited until our wedding. It really grieved me to know that I had shared this wonderful gift with someone other than my husband - that I had cheated him out of something that should have only belonged to him. It also grieved me to know that I had sinned against God so blatantly. I totally disregarded His plan to follow my own selfish and destructive desires.

This is quite siimply one of the finest articles I've ever read on the subject. The title is: Subversive Virginity. It has been reprinted by quite a number of other publications but it was written for First Things.

My husband and I both waited. I think it would be weird for us to know that the other had been with someone else. When we were in college we were part of the Baptist Student Union and they talked to us a lot about this. One thing that hit me that I still remember was that God has already chosen your husband for you. Imagine that your future husband knows you are sleeping with someone else. He would be extremely hurt and you've already damaged your relationship and you haven't even met him yet.

thanks for that artical, i just read it and had a discussion about it with my best friend, i made her promise me she'd stay pure untill marriage, I don't want her to lose that.
That is wonderful. Check out ChristianBook.Com because they've got some really cute jewelry that you and your friend could use as a "silver ring thing". I'm pretty sure there's not a parent around who would have a problem getting their child a ring for that purpose (it's basically a declaration to remain pure until marriage). The ring is a great reminder of your promise.

I DEFINITELY plan on doing that with my daughters when they're older. I plan to make it a family event.

Check out Silver Ring Thing

i already have a true love waits ring.. i've gotten some weird looks from people who see it, but oh well. I'm planning on getting my friends one for Christmas, one of my other friends told me once she'd feel better about being a virgin if she had a true love waits ring so she'd look confedent or something.
