Question about the flood

I was raised that the Bible is accurate and true, the problem is that people have different interpretations so we need to determine who's understanding is accurate and true.

Why do you think that what you were raised to believe is likely to be true?

How does one determine which understanding is accurate and true? You can't use evidence, as evidence is antithetical to faith. So what else works to distinguish truth from falsehood?

I became a Christian because I was looking for something that worked and science had nothing to offer. I could ONLY find the answers and solutions I was looking for in the Bible. I looked everywhere else first.

If science couldn't answer the questions, maybe nothing can answer them! Just because the Bible claims to have answers that nobody else does, doesn't mean that the Bible actually knows more than everybody else.

You need to get your eyes off of man and onto God. We are taught by the Holy Spirit of God, He guides us and leads us into the truth. We do not follow man and his thoughts and opinions, we seek to follow God and His ways.

Life is not about being smart or pretty, life is about working hard, learning and getting the job done. You have to be able to figure out what works and what doesn't. You also have to set boundaries. The beginning of writing was to inventory how many baskets of produce they had and establishing boundary lines for land that they were trying to produce food on. From the beginning man had to get out and work and produce. He had to deal with the people that wanted to plunder what others produced.

Of course the Bible knows more because the Bible was inspired by God. You should take a basic 101 Bible course to learn a little bit about the Bible. I see people on here with Phd's in science but their a third grader understands the Bible better then them. People should at least have a fifth grader understanding of the Bible before they attempt to argue with people that have a graduate school level of understanding. If I had a third grade level of understanding of science it would be absurd for me to try to argue with someone that has a Phd level of understanding.

My father was a medical doctor for over 50 years. He worked 12 hour days six days a week all of his life. I maybe the first to say that the medical profession does not know what they are doing and they do not know what they are talking about, but that would be against the rules of this forum. MD's go beyond PHd's because they have an internship and residency. That gives them a substantial amount of on the job training. I was being taught how to read xrays, set broken bones and stitch people up when I was as young as three years of age. My mom was a bacteriologist so I learned about that also. She believed if you want to find a good husband then you have to take the right classes at the university. It worked because she had two doctors propose marriage and she picked the one she thought was the most handsome. You may think the family of a doctor does nothing, but it's the family that has to deal with all the pressures, stress and issues of the job. Both my brothers are doctors so we all have very interesting conversations when we get together.

The recently announced consensus of Scientists is that life began in WATER exactly as God told us in Genesis chapter one. A lot of evolutionists fall victim to Romans 1:20 before they reach Hebrews 5:12.

The trouble is that is such a huge volume of material. Unless you are proposing a biased, prejudiced, narrow-minded restriction to only the Christian expressions of the Word of God. I don't believe that would be justifiable on ethical grounds.

Of course the Bible knows more because the Bible was inspired by God.

Even if the claim that the bible was inspired by a deity was demonstrably true, that wouldn't mean that the bible was an accurate source of information on the real world. Many works of fiction are inspired by real things. Consider the Stephen King novel Misery. It's inspired by the time the guy was run over by a car, with the main character being also partly based on himself. Yet, the story does not depict a real sequence of events and the characters are not real people.

You should take a basic 101 Bible course to learn a little bit about the Bible.

-_- learning about the bible is why I don't believe it is an accurate depiction of reality. It's extremely patronizing to act as if the only reason a person couldn't possibly believe the same things you do is because they are more ignorant about a subject than you are.

To add to the insult, you've never actually depicted the level of understanding the bible one would expect of a person that has actually dedicated time to studying it. Note that attending bible study groups and studying the bible in an academic sense are different things.

-_- doubtful, given that all of the most popular versions of the bible are of reading levels that at or beyond that of a person 14 years old. The NIV even can't usually be comfortably read by someone younger than 12, and the KJV, which many people on here promote as "the true bible version" generally won't be comfortably read by someone younger than 17. Although, individual books of the bible do vary a little in terms of reading level.

Also, have you actually tried to read the bible without skipping over the pages of family trees and overly detailed rules about practices modern people don't do? Not exactly an attention grabber for a prepubescent child.

One cannot assume facts, one can substantiate them and demonstrate their interrelationships.

The ToE is assuredly not a fact. The clue is in the name: Theory of Evolution. Evolution is a fact; the ToE provides an explanation of how it occurs.

Many of the individuals who have contributed to and developed the ToE were (and are) religious. You are being offensive in declaring them Godless. I'm pretty certain that is against forum rules, it is certainly against the principle of honesty in ones declarations.

Your rhetorical device of describing Evol Religionists, with the implict assertion that evolutionists are Evil is something I would consider offensive if I valued your opinion. I don't.
