I’ve been wondering what exactly the last verse in Psalm 50 means for a while now. Is it about restoration? I hope it’s okay to get some input here.

19 Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.

Thank you, Melissa

The theme of the psalm is that sacrifice is useless without good behavior. Some people back then would -just as some people do now- make sacrifices for sake of tradition, or as Jesus said "to be seen of men". They would then turn around and abuse their neighbors out of selfishness. Without good behavior the sacrifices didn't mean anything. A lot of the parables of the new testament say the same. The meaning of verse 19 is that after the people practiced righteousness they would offer sacrifices and be accepted. Genesis 4:7 is similar. God said to Cain, "If you do well, will you not be accepted?"

yep, a broken and contrite heart God will not despise. so we come before Him with humility and then offer our gift.
