  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My room is composed of 6 planes, 4 walls, 1 ceiling, 1 floor. 4+1+1=6. When those rooms start stacking up in cities, it's 6,6,6.... It goes on and on. Those beasts have communication systems, much like a nervous system connecting the individual cells of a collective massive brain. Those beasts have water systems and major arteries of transportation systems to bring nourishment to the brain cells that live in those rooms, those 6 sided cells. Those beasts have sewage systems and trash pickup to carry away the waste from those cells. Those beasts continue to sprawl and devour the natural countryside as God created it.

Myeh...but six is just a number. I try not to dwell on it, and turn it into something that it is not.

Otherwise I might end up living in a pyramid in the country, with a periscope coming out of the top, to keep an eye out for the approaching beast.

Here's more of what I think: rock music is basically played on a guitar. I think guitars were created specifically for satanists to play their music. I think it came from an evil source. Many musicians who claim to be holy Christians are actually secretly satanic. All well-known musicians, openly satanic, or claiming to be Christians, or any other "religion," all of them sold their soul to have what they have, they are all secret satanists. They all promote this instrument, heavily. I don't think the example that satanists do many other things that non-satanists do makes much sense in this discussion. I don't think it's a coincidence that there's triple 6 on most guitars usually played by all of them.

I'm here to ask about guitars, and I realize that I might at least be wrong about that. I'm really hoping so because I'd love to play one. About CCM musicians, many other Christians believe what I have said about them. I'm not the only one. If you were to research it on youtube you could find out how many do. One should always question everything and critically think about absolutely everything in your life and everything you're told.

I do not believe that any music instrument is "evil" in and of itself.

Beforetimes it was the organ, the fiddle who were the "devil",

I believe there were protests against Sankey and Barrett in there awakening meetings
because of use of certain music instruments.

Ages ago since I read that so may not have got the names correct, but it can be checked.

Listen to "Horst Wessel" song, the Nazi anthem and you will probably find it is very

seductive.
Hence why music can be used to manipulate.

You might want to study up on the history of guitars.

Here's Clapton doing another religious song, this time with Pavarotti. One of my favorites; simply gorgeous.

Bravo! I never knew Clapton and Pavarotti did a duet.

You've probably heard Eva Cassidy's version of Over The Rainbow. (BTW, she was a pretty accomplished acoustic guitarist herself.) She sings it in a slow tempo, and flattens the melody somewhat. Which turns a purely secular tune, written for a movie, into a near-religious, spiritual musical experience. She achieves a perfect combination of melancholy and hopefulness. By far, it's the best performance of this song on record. If Judy Garland was alive, and heard Eva's recording, she'd never sing it any other way.

There's something almost Poe-esque about this...
Edited to add: Between this and the other thread about apples being evil. And I just got back to calling myself a Christian again... the timing of it all, lol...

I shouldn't judge, I have no place doing that with anyone. I don't want to ruin anyone's worship. I came here to ask about guitars, and no one really agrees with me that guitars are possibly evil, and that helps a bit, actually, so thank you for sharing your opinions it really is appreciated. I wanted to apologize though if anyone feels like I judged them.

No problem.

You might like this. The malaguena (pronounced "ma-la-GAYN-ya") is a type of Spanish dance. It's also the title of a well known piano piece written by the Cuban composer, Ernesto Lecuona in the 1930s. The singer/guitarist Jose Feliciano--who's blind--does an awesome version for solo acoustic guitar. This is an older video and the sound quality isn't great. But his virtuosity is still incredible. At about 2:00, he's playing with only his fretting hand. Amazing.

Thank you for sharing. Very thoughtful for you to want to share. I don't feel okay saying more than that, I really don't mean to sound self-righteous.

I feel really convicted about it by God and wanted to come back and say this: I'm sorry for the somewhat nasty way I spoke to you in this post, it wasn't right and I apologize for that. Maybe you or others can't tell but I know that I did. So I'm sorry.

Here's one more great classical guitar piece. It's the 2nd movement adagio from the Concerto de Aranjuez. Written in the 1930s for solo guitar and orchestra by the Spanish composer, Joaquin Rodrigo. The name refers to the town of Aranjuez, south of Madrid. Where the composer was inspired by some royal gardens. The opening is a very cool duet between the guitar and English horn. It's an outstanding piece of music. And Pablo Sainz-Villega's guitar work is terrific. He really feels the music.

Beautiful. I've heard that piece before, but not, I think, with the guitar as the center piece.

ETA: Is that piece known by another name? I could have sworn it was something I grew up with.

I first heard it used as background music in a Chrysler commercial in the 70s. Ricardo Montalban is pitching the "fine Corinthian leather." ^_^

According to Shazam, it's Concierto de Aranjuez ... doesn't help me know why I know it, but *shrug*
