Question about confession

Hi all,

I am new to the forum, and had a question that I hoped somebody could shed light on for me. At my recent confession I confessed all the sins I remembered, and then as I and my Priest stood up and he was about to tell me to kneel down to receive the prayer of absolution, a thought came to my head: that I "haven't been obedient to the church." I did not confess this, however, as I felt that the priest could consider it to be too vague, and in truth if I did confess it and he asked me how exactly I've been disobedient, the answer would be through all the sins I just confessed. However, a part of me is nervous that perhaps "disobedience to the Church" is a sin in itself and I didn't confess it, invalidating the confession. As he is busy I didn't want to arrange an appointment with him unless it is urgent, does anybody have any thoughts on this?

well, those kinds of things are why the priest is there. so even if not an actual appointment, I would bring it up and see what Father says.

I'd just mention it in your next confession. It isn't as if you must give an exact list of every single sin you've committed. I think the Lord has mercy on us regardless of whether we remember everything we've done or not. Now, if you withhold something, that's an entirely different story.

after rereading your post, if the reasons you would have given for your disobedience is what you had just confessed, then I would say that you did confess it, since you told him all the ways you were disobedient. often the enemy will cause us to doubt our confession when we leave. if the thought persists, I would bring it up to your priest.
