  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would appreciate help identifying the source text and correct wording for a quote attributed to St. Maximos the Confessor. I’ve misplaced the link where I read it. “The void beheld the beauty of the pre-eternal Logos and repented of its nothingness.” thanks so much for any help anyone can offer. God with us +

hmm, never heard that quote before. it’s interesting for sure, but sounds a tad off to me. is there maybe some context with that quote?

and I am not saying that it’s not from St Maximos, just wondering if there is anything else that could clarify it.

I read it in a paper, copied it, and unfortunately have no other info (crashed computer). If you don’t mind, what about the statement seems off to you ? Thanks and best to you in Christ

the void beholding and repenting (which I know could be poetic, but that just sounds off to me).
