If the great pyramid of Cheops was antediluvian, then how could it have survived the disturbance regimes (eg, Earth quakes, volcanism) generated by the flood?:sigh:

For example, some believe that the flood was created by a Mars fly by which generated land tides. If this was the case, then I just don't see how the great pyramid could have stayed intact.

What do you make of the Egyptian claims that the Pharaohs had them built as tombs?

The great Pyramid used to be covered with a layer on fine white limestone. As any geologist will tell you, this could only have formed when it was at the bottom of the sea.
I'm no geologist, but from what I remember of Egyptian history, the Egyptians built it that way. Limestone can be mined in quarries.

God called his people OUT of Egypt. Why go back there to learn there myths? The bible says the pyramids were under water that PROVES the limestone was laid down in the flood.[/troll]

Is this taught in any school? Can you sue the people responsible for such nonsense?

Unfortunately nonsense is not against the law.

In terms of the limestone, what you heard is a kind of badly-interpreted truth. There were limstone blocks which were laid on top of the later pyramids to give them a smooth, bright finish. It was not a silt layer, and you would not have gotten a "thin layer of limestone" from inundation, anyways.

The Pyramid texts were deciphered long ago and we know when they were built and who built them. We know how they were built, where the rock came from, and for most of them we even know who was originally left therein. In some of the pyramids there are coffins leftover, which furnishes a great deal of knowledge about their afterlife beliefs because the coffins were inscribed in hieroglyphs and their cursive.

Firstly, don't believe everything you see on the history channel. Secondly, despite being a bible-believing Christian, I can tell you that nothing I have said here is a stretch. I've been trained in Egyptology and read a significant number of texts.

One of the problems online with claims like this is that it is impossible to distinguish genuine but odd YECists from sarcasm and parody.

I read a hundred links from google the hit pyramids limestone laid down by the flood and didn't see this particular claim. So i'll put it into the parody file for now. I don't see any better way to handle such claims.

Sorry folks, you can only read so many YEC arguments and it starts to gets to you, but limestone deposition during the flood seemed such a beautiful, even elegant explanation for the pyramids. After all some YECs claim fossilised fish on the mountain tops as evidence of the flood, why not the limestone on the pyramids?

The only danger is, the next time you google pyramids limestone laid down by the flood, you may just start to get hits...

Wow, I can't believe some of the absolutely insane theories that have been in this thread on the very first page.

Where do people come up with this stuff?

Would anyone argue with me if I said that the OP is a troll?

What about the OP?

No. Given some YEC scenarios relative to the flood, these are legitimate questions. I hadn't heard about the Mars fly-by idea before. I think that may be too outrageous for even many YECs to agree to. But who knows?

That's the point of Poe's law. Unless parody is specifically indicated, you can't tell whether a creationist assertion is a parody or legit.

In any case, the OP is not expressing a personal belief in these. Rather asking those who do subscribe to them how the evidence of the pyramids can possibly fit into them.

Well, I believe that there was a literal Noah's flood. Having studied plenty of history, I can't think of anyone who would seriously think that the Egyptian pyramids were underneath this flood. Why would anythink think that in the first place?

that is the same problem with google whacking, once you post what you find, it isn't a google whack. thanks for clearing up the situation, i've been reading too much "dad" and suspect all YECists are agreeing with him. *grin*

Dating. Depending on when you set the date of the flood, some early pyramids could have been built pre-flood. Or even during the flood.

If you subscribe to an earlier date for the flood, then this is not a problem. Though finding enough manpower to build the pyramids post-flood could be.

And of course, there are still all the other reasons that falsify a flood in Egypt (other than the annual flooding of the Nile) anywhere in the biblical frame of reference.

I knew it was from Assyrian, who doesn't subscribe to YEC. But that was the problem I was having. I was reading through his post trying to figure out what he was saying because it didn't fit at all into my preconceived notions of what Assyrian would say. ^_^ Eventually, I discovered the [/troll] tag which was too light on my monitor.
