We were watching a couple of herons this last year. We eventually found their lair from a distance. This is over by their hunting grounds. Even though we took a number of photos we could never get it completely in focus. It flees if you get too close.

Most of the birds were in hiding today due to the weather, but we saw something that looked like an owl perched on the side of a shed and it was sitting very still. I got out the binoculars and it *was* an owl, and was perched at a 45 degree angle, but the catch is that it was a decoy and not a living owl. :)

The only living birds I saw out today was about four or five Canada geese flying overhead at around 8 am, and what I believe was an American crow flying by, though I was driving and could only look for about 1 second.

Can you see her? Taken with my F601 digital camera. I thought it was terrific with that little digital camera.
There's a sweet story attached to this.
These little finches are here with their nests built in these trees. I used to raise birds so one day I went out and reached in and took one of her babies and put it in with some baby finches I was raising in a cage in the bedroom. Soon I heard a tap tapping and went in the bedroom and still the tapping. It was coming from the window and the mom was tapping on the window. She wanted her baby back. I was amazed. So I put it back in the nest. I sure would have liked to have seen what would have happened with the wren and my zebra finches. Aren't they just wonderful? My camera says 8 years ago, I would say a lot longer than that. The little guys are still here:)
