Does anyone have a cat who purrs as a warning that he or she is angry? Mine has a purr for all seasons, but the angry one is the loudest and can almost be described as staccato.

It's amazing the range of sounds that they use to communicate, isn't it? Just how one thing can have a multiplicity of meanings!

You are so funny.lol I only wish we could be there in person to see you demonstrate this. I especially like how you made sure to include the whistling of the air through the nose part. rolf....That makes for quite a visual! It sounds to me like you have a very, very special little kitty there. She sounds sooooooo cute! He Ni-Ni-Ni-Ni!!Poohbear246 said:Lol! That would be! It's a very loud punctuated purr that is in sync with her breathing. Her breathing is slow with deeps breaths at the time so it sounds like: "purrrrrRRRR, RRRRRR purrrrRRRRR" -- and you can hear the whistle of the air through her nose as she purrs. This is reserved for times when she really wants to sleep and not be petted. It's a warning before she starts pushing you with all paws. Lol.
Her happy purr is softer and her playful purr is can be just as loud but not as staccato. (I don;t know how else to describe it.)![]()
