It is of course the wrong question

If the question is, "Why are there mosquitos," then it is easy to answer.

If the question is, "what is the purpose of mosquitos," then it presupposes that there is some intent that created mosquitos for a particular reason, and the existence of such intent would have to be shown before we try to determine what that intent is.

Plus they are what we perceive to be pests.

Would the mosquitoes be cause-and-effect evidence of such intent?

No.

There is another far more plausible explanation.

You might as well argue that the existence of shoes is cause-and-effect evidence of shoe-making fairies.

If we go from an evolutionary point of view, this question is very easy to answer.
True. It's also easy to answer from a creation viewpoint.

Funny how when you use that logic, it's a valid argument, but when I use it, it's just a joke. Why, it's almost as though you decide on whether the argument is valid or not based on whether you agree with the conclusion!

I first read your point a different way than you wrote it.

Nevermind -- it just made me chuckle.

It all boils down to the food chain from a scientific perspective? Mosquitos serve a greater purpose, despite the fact they are incredibly annoying to humans?

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Evolution does not produce organisms solely for the purpose of providing food for other animals.

Yup, wrong on all counts.
Food chai etc is talk of the role(s) they happen to fill.

They have no purpose. If one believes, quite irrationally, that
they were " put here" for a purpose then any sort of fantasy
one wishes to concoct will serve.

That tells us absolutely nothing though, does it?
Actually, it explains everything, for the person who is only concerned with the pursuit of Christ.

Conversely, to say that Evolution gives the simplest answer is to say that nebulous ("there is no purpose —there is only cause and effect") axioms are the best.

Neither of these gives the particulars, but for the one interested only in the pursuit of Christ, the answer is more than satisfactory. For the Evolutionist, I should think, he would still be unsatisfied, if he is intellectually honest, since Evolution is only theory —not faith.
